GILGIT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced the launch of a business loan scheme aimed at the youth. Under the scheme loans of up to Rs2 million will be given on easy instalments. Addressing party workers in Gilgit Baltistan, Prime Minister Sharif said the youth business loan scheme was being started with a fund of Rs100 billion and forms will be available in the next few days. Under the scheme, those between the ages of 21-45 will be able to apply for loans.
The prime minister clarified that an education was not a prerequisite for the loan and those using this facility could use it towards enhancing their career and the development of the nation.
The Prime Minister said that a number of education and health projects would be started in Gilgit Baltistan to bring it at par with the developed areas of the country. He added that the government would ensure provision of basic amenities of life for the people of Gilgit Baltistan at their doorsteps. The Prime Minister announced construction of a cardiac hospital in Gilgit so that the people may get the facility close to their homes, without the hassle of traveling long distance to seek medical help. He also announced setting up of a Special Police Force in Gilgit that would be equipped with modern weapons and would be specially trained to build up their capacity. He said the selection of the Police Force would strictly be on merit to ensure law and order in the area. He said the government last year provided funds of eight billion rupees to Gilgit Baltistan for development schemes.
Under the scheme, the youth will be provided loans ranging from Rs 100,000 to two million and 8 percent of markup will be covered by the loan recipient, while the remaining 7 percent will be provided by the government. The loan will be payable in 08 years with first year as grace period.
PML-N has a number of projects to its credit that failed miserably and resulted in huge losses to the national exchequer. Yellow Cab, Sasti Roti are a few to name. The latest adventure of Sharif in the shape of Business Loan scheme with a starting fund of 100-billion rupee maybe a good publicity stunt, but detrimental to an already frangible economy of the country. A society which excels in exploiting loopholes will grab the opportunity with both hands and the net result of the scheme may not be any different than Yellow Cab scheme.
The election claim that the country needs an experienced team to take it out of the mess awaits validity. Those who used to think that Sharif has learned from his mistakes, should reconsider their opinion.

Re: Sharif announces Rs2 million 'easy loan' scheme
Total waste of public money. He should fund this scheme from his "mal-e-ghanimat" rather than striking again on "khali quami khazana". Where is sou mota of super duper CJ? Oh I am sorry he is political PML(N$) CJ, he gives a rat's arse if his mai baap loots the national exchequer.
This should be challenged in PA, NA and in Senate. Brainless leaders like IK should raise his voice against this loot rather than wasting his time in following shadows. Where are the opposition leaders of the house?
N$ thinks that Pakistan is his "baap ki jaagir hay jo marzi aaiay woh is ke saath karay".
