Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams had to face a barrage of criticism after his comments on Sharia law. Some Jewish talk show hosts in US used highly derogatory, slanderous and disparaging language against him without realizing and appreciating the fact that orthodox Jewish laws are already in coherence with the British system of jurisprudence. How would you comment on the situation.
Re: Sharia Laws In UK
UK People have problems with Muslims want to introduce some part of sharia law but they don’t have problem with their own country forcing other countries to impose democracy. This is clear hypocrisy. If Jews have it then what is the problem with Muslims?
In this video, brother Sami exposed their stupidity and double standards
Re: Sharia Laws In UK
Hypocrisy when one community's lackof integration and separate but not binding legal system is never focused upon. I dont think muslims can ever do right in the uk and anything related to islam will be jumped upon but then again i do not blme western society for this reaction when they see states such as saudi, iran, afghanistan implement "shariah law". When you look at these 3 states and the gross human rights abuses that take place within these states and in the name of the shariah law then why would not westerners be afraid of it?
I do think it is really sad that the way he has been treated - the tabloids have twisted what he has said. On BBC Radio 4 "the any questions" programme dealt with it and even someof the panelists were very against the idea of a separate legal system.
Re: Sharia Laws In UK
the whole thing has totally been blown out of proportion. Many people are ignnorant and frankly silly and really haevnt actually read wht the archbishop actually said. they have just gone by the media hysteria which claims that he said that a parallel sharia legal system sud b set up 4 muslims INSTEAD of the current system. He did not say this at all.
As far as the ord shariah is concerned mojority people view it to be an inhumane system since they r only going to go by the examples put forth to them by places such as sudan and afghanistan. These as every1 will agree are not the best countries to use as an example as far as shariah is concerned.
As far as jewish courts are concerned, again most people are so unaware of the fact that these exist. Mainly because the jewish community in teh UK is relatively small and also because their community is great at deflecting attention away 4rm themselves and are very clever at gettin all teh provisions put in place for their faith, without making a noise about it
Many people in the Uk are not religious at all and dont believ in God, any suggestion of bringing in anything to do with religion especialy ISLAM into the judicial system is inevitably going to trigger an outcry.
The archbishop is well known for being a very intellectual man, I either think he was naive to say something like this and not realizing that he shud have been such a public outcry to his comments, however many people have said that he mentioned this, because he feels the importnace of faith and religion in british society is eroding away and wants to ensure that religion remians an important issue and therfore wanted to grab headlines.
Mentioning anything to do with the christian faith never grabs any headlines, mentioning islam does , so if that was his aim he has succeded in doing so
