sharebuilder....

Has anyone ever traded on sharebuilder.com? are they better as compared to other online trading websites like E-trade or scott trade in terms of Account opening fees and transaction costs?

Re: sharebuilder....

i have a sharebuilder account. they have low buy commissions ($4 if you like the free account, $2 if you like the $12 monthly fee account with 6 free monthly buys). no opening fee, no inactivity fee.

the cons are, sell comissions are around $15. so are realtime buy orders. the $4/$2 buys can be done only once a week, on tuesdays. your order is frozen by monday. you cant short stocks. you cant buy all stocks, penny stocks etc. are screened out.

in short, if your aim is to buy and hold your investments, and arent interested in timing your buys on anything finer than a week, it makes sense. if you are a trader, no.
