I was a nerd , I did not have permission to participate in any extra curricular activities so I missed out on that during my youth. My parents emphasized on importance of education and believed in putting all the time on studies.
My parents believed in:

Did/do your parents share the same philosophy as mine did ?
nope...my dad was a accomplished poet himself so he wanted all of us to do shairi on the side but none of us followed his footsteps except me. i started writing my own urdu poetry about 10 years ago and i barely can call myself poet but a **tuk-banidiya****, YES!
i couldn't play any sports because i did NOT attend any school until grade 10 and then it was kinda too late pick up a sport at school level. i did play kabaDDi, cricket in my village at a very basic level. :)**
my parents beliieved in education first and really encouraged us to do well but also wanted us to develop other skills in life we naturally had and didnt want us to waste spare time infront of tv or lying about like a vegetable in soup.
I was involved in art and writing, I swam alot, I was part of an organisation called young enterprise where young people learn how to run businesses, i did the duke of edinburgh award broze silver and gold, charity work
I was a party guy ... people in my circle used to call my name with name-ism .. so lets say. .zaheerism or aliissm .. .etc..etc
one crazy life i lived, i am happy.
