Let us see how many people you can rope in to respond. Don't skip any workouts.
Good luck.
Re: share your experience about skipping rope workout.
Since no one is responding, I will share my experience with skipping. Too difficult for me. Hard to keep that rhythm going. I would think it would build stamina. Also strengthen calves and possible wrist - since motion is wristy.
Re: share your experience about skipping rope workout.
If someone is a a lot over weight they should be careful as too much of skipping can harm the joints.
Re: share your experience about skipping rope workout.
It's said to help reduce overall body fat. I prefer a combo of running and weights.
Re: share your experience about skipping rope workout.

Re: share your experience about skipping rope workout.
I like skipping ... When I was at my peak I could skip like a boxer, now I tire too quickly ... I can do only 300 or so without stopping now or getting my feet caught. It is a good exercise that one can do easily in the house. No need to go outside or to the gym and no need to have major equipment.
For buxom women or men for that matter, it can be a problem. It's better to use skipping as a form of real exercise when one has already reached up to a level of health and fitness. I have taught skipping to my kids. They really enjoy it and it keeps them engaged as they can always count to beat their score.
Later I will show them cross skips and double skips ... At the moment just getting them coordinated first and use their muscles more efficiently.
Lots of skipping will leave you with short pains in the backs of the upper arms, just at the tendon regions on the bicep-elbow connection, calves, and lower quads. Better to skip as silently as possible by using toes to land on and that is better for the calf exercise too.
Some pain from muscle growth can come in the two strips of flesh either side of the back bone in the mid to lower half of the torso.
It is a good way to get cardiac endurance ... It is not recommended for fat burn as it is too energetic for that ... Fat burn should be done on a rate where the heart beat is higher than 110 and lower than 125 beats per minute. Of course, if you are already fit then skipping will be good for fat burning, but I highly doubt you can skip and keep your pulse rate lower than 145 bpm. Mine goes way up to about 170 to 180 bpm.
