Sharaafat

Inspired by the other thread, what qualifies as ‘sharaafat’ in your eyes? What is your definition of it? How would you judge someone’s level of sharaafat?

Re: Sharaafat

i can't. i don't.

Re: Sharaafat

Combination of Shar and Aafat.

Re: Sharaafat

I find that people who pass on the judgement of who is ''shareef'' and who isn't have themselves got the most dubious personalities

Re: Sharaafat

Speaking from the rishta situation point of view, seriously isn't it so easy to fake this sharaafat? I mean you look at some perfectly normal people and you'd be surprised at what they're capable of.

Re: Sharaafat

Sharafat can be faked in dating or rishta situation. So what's the point?

Least one has parents involved in rishta situation.

Re: Sharaafat

Hence I am surprised that people would still opt for a complete arranged marriage scenario, I mean MOST of the time people tell the truth but still...I am not saying love marriages are perfect but at least the couple get to know each other more.

Patiently waits for arranged marriage vs love marriage brigade to shoot him down

Sometimes that gives someone even more incentive to lie because in that situation, impressing the parents --> baat paaki.

Re: Sharaafat

For me a shareef person is someone who has a humble personality and doesn't think too highly of themselves. Also, a shareef person is someone who isn't manipulative, someone who doesn't possess a malicious nature, and someone who possesses a conscience.

The thing is it's not easy to tell who is shareef (according to this definition). We can't always tell what people's intentions are and what they are like on the inside. :/

Re: Sharaafat

^ You deserve some marmalade for that.

Agreed.

Re: Sharaafat

Errr...What is wrong in judging someone as shareef or not as long as maligning/gossip is not involved?

How does one go about living in this world without judging? Whether it's walking in the night, having to cross a group of non-shareef looking people to marrying someone, how do you do it?

Re: Sharaafat

Mai ne toh waisay hee aik clever sounding statement maari thee :(

Re: Sharaafat

meaningless in today's world. it's been replaced by other [good] characteristics.

Re: Sharaafat

And to the original post...

Sharafat, to me, is honesty, integrity, straight forwardness and the lack of dubious behavior. A shareef person would not be deceitful in his ways be it on the personal level such as lying or cheating or on a professional level where one can be malicious/manipulative.

Re: Sharaafat

You've ruled out 90% of the world population :D

Re: Sharaafat

Lying...not about something like the color of one's boxers but about who you are. Are you one of those people who will deceive the person into marrying you by lying to them about what they ask of you about you? If yes, you are not shareef.

Re: Sharaafat

I am very shareef and a masoom namoona
