Shane Warne moves into second position

Warne took four wickets in the second innings against South Africa today. His third wicket took him past Kapil Dev into second on the list of Test wicket-takers.

He has 436, with only Courtney Walsh on 519 still ahead of him.

What do guppies think, will he beat Walsh’s record and who if anyone will catch up with him. I think there are only two people who can catch up with him and Walsh and they are Murali and Mcgrath.

I guess we need forget about Wasim bhai then huh.
I don't think Mcgrath will be able to do it, Murali might have a chance.

Thank you, come again

Murli will break Walsh's record. McGrath won't be able to get there. If Australia only played the Saffies and the English, Warne would've gotten 1000 wickets. But since that's not the case, Murli will win it all.

At this rate, Murali would surely make it past Walsh...Warne should be able to

The Game Responds:

*And might The Game add, He *fully* deserved to go infront of that no-good,overrated Kapil Dev. Whatever the Indian media might say about Sachin kicking Warne's rear end,the fact remains;Warne is the greatest spinner of his time, and arguably the best leg spinner of all time.**Think About It**.People,That Is All.*

It's not how you play The Game,*shmucks,it's how The Game plays you.*

well both shane warne and murli as gifted cricketers and history will remember them as one of the best.
as far wasimbhai is concerned when he was a young man he had every potential to be the greatest fast bowlers of all time but greed won over the cricketer and now we have a caricature of that old wasim.
immense talent gone down the drain

Wasim had a pretty checkered career towards the end. But in my book Wasim is still the greatest of fast bowlers ever. Just 'cause our media isn't used to drumming up our players to be Tendulkars and Bradmans doesn't mean that Wasim isn't the best ever.

Agree 100%
Stats don't mean nothing, what Wasim has done for Pakistan, no other bowler in the history will accomplish that landmark.

It really hurts (doesn't it ?) to see that an ordinary bowler like Kapil still has more wickets than Any Bowler from the Land of Fast Bowlers. Also about the spanking Sachin and team gave to Warne is written in the Golden Books of crickets and not only Indian Media (open up your wisdens and other biographies, you will know what I am talking about).

About Warne's greatness - No one can question that, but a fool. He is the best spinner ever. His record speaks for himself.

Asif I dont think it is right to say kapil was an ordinary bowler. He was a very good bowler even if he was just a medium pacer. However your contention that he has more wickets than any bowler from the land of the fast masks reality.

The reason why Imran, Akram and Waqar from Pakistan and Malcolm Marshall, Holding, Garner etc from windies never got so many wickets was because they hunted in pairs or threesome or foursome and wickets were shared. No bowler could dominate alone as everyone shared wickets.

Kapil and Hadlee on the other hand took so many wickets because of the absence of other very good bowlers within their teams, therefore they always ended up taking most of the wickets. That is not to say they were not good bowlers. Just that they did not face much challenge from their compatriots. Look at windies as soon as the fast bowlers disappeared Walsh took most of the wickets and ended up with 500 plus wickets.

Its amazing to see waqar and wasim play so many one days togeather, and both are the top 2 bowlers in wicket taking for one days.

good point Ehsan.

The Game Responds:

*What really hurts The Game is the way the Indian Cricket Board arranged home series after home series against weaker teams to actually help Kapil Dev *drag* along on his way to the world record. If the drag would have been on foreign soil,The Game would have given some credit, but that was not the case.I mean 131 tests to capture 434 wickets, that's pathetic!(No offence to any Indian, because it was all Kapil's fault).**Think About It.** People,That Is All.*

It's not how you play The Game,*shmucks,it's how The Game plays you.*

Ehsan,

I must say that you are the best moderator I have come across on all the forums. Also, If only all of us had a sane and analytical mind like yours, this forum would have been much better.

Now coming on to the topic, My remarks on Kapil being Ordinary was Sarcastic and I never meant that. And Hey I never claim that he is a better bowler than any of the HAZRATS you mentioned because he is not. But If you see THE GAME'S insulting remark about him you will understand why I wrote about that.

Is this forum for insulting Players ? Kapil isn't the best, But he was good enough to take 400+ wickets. Wasim is struggling today (Fitness wise) and I dont think he is going to play for more than a year now (Look at Alan Donald, he retired today).

To maintain a fitness level like Kapil and Walsh and play 100+ test matches itself is a big achievment for a cricketer. Also it is wrong to say that Walsh didn't have partners - He had Ambrose and he also took 400+ wickets.

And btw 'THE GAME' - Kapil didn't take many wickets in his last 20 tests (because those days Indians were winning at home on SPIN PITCHES and Kumble-Raju-Chauhan were feasting on those weak teams). Before commenting on Kapil - You should have thought about your own players like JAVED MIANDAD and SALIM MALIK (with due respect to their talent, they have stretched their careers) and now WASIM AKRAM - he is doing the same thing.

*Admit it pal,The Game really hit the nail on the head with that post, didn't He? Take a closer look and you will see that The People's ARTIST didn't have one insulting remark about Kapil Dev;He was only mentioning the Indian Board's fault who *dragged* his career to give him a bad name. Now do you see what The ARTIST is painting here? See you around with your invalid arguments. People,That Is All.*
