For biryani…quite often. I add my own masala and use 1-2 Tablespoons of the packet masala…usually as a flavor enhancer or if i’m short on time and don’t have all ingredients then i use it. It’s supposed to have loads of MSG…so idk how unhealthy it is. I think if it’s used for everything, all the time (daily or every other day), then it’s defo unhealthy. Once in a while is fine, i would think…i make biryani like once a month and even then i use the packet masala if i don’t have everything or just feel lazy.
Also it’s so hard to find which brand works well for u…i like Shan in the US but when i was in Pakistan National was awesome.

Paya
For rest of the dishes, I am pretty much khood kafeel. Since we make Nihari/Hallem/Paya once in months (perhaps 2-3 months) and those dishes are unhealthy by themselves, I am not much bothered about if masalas are unhealthy or not

I only use laziza seekh kebab masala for my kebabs and Shan chaat masala for my dahi/raita.

I am not a fan of packet masalas at all… However, I do use the chat masala, simply because I am too lazy to make chaat masala myself.

We use ghar ka masalas as well…unless there are people coming over and we are cooking in large quantities.

My favorite are National though…their masalas are actually pretty good!

Yes, it has loads of sodium ( salt) in it that makes eating it on a daily basis unhealthy. I use Shan masala but not a daily basis. Definitely for nihari, achar gosht, koftay and BBQ . Never for pilau or qorma.
Yes, I do use Shan chat masala and curry powder.

Has someone tried Mehran masala?? I tired their chicken karahi masala and it was so gooooood.

ye sirf Lyari main milta hai.. idhar Gulshan, Nazimabad main nahin

They should be avoided for excessive amount of salt and preservatives.
