On my recent visit to the indian grocery store, I found shan items in the frozen food section. I bought the shami kabab, seekh kabab, biryani, and chicken qorma. Shami kabab was pretty good. Seekh kabab had a weird texture- i think they put in too much meat tenderizer coz it was falling apart, biryani was delish but as with any rice that is defrosted, the texture was weird, chicken qorma tasted really good too. I am excited about trying other items. has anyone tried anything else? what are your thoughts?
Re: Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
Shan makes frozen food as well?
Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
Haha…I was just at my local Pakistani grocery store, and the owner, with whom I’m friendly, was asking my advice about which ones of these Shan frozen foods to order for trial..lol! I advised her against ordering the biryani, because frozen rice gets weird when defrosted ![]()
I think they were going to try out the karhai chicken, butter chicken and kebabs…will report back ![]()
Re: Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
omg i saw them yesterday too and was totally surprised! i didnt buy any because i was in a rush and wasnt sure about the taste and deciding which to pick up. what were the prices in your area? the ones i saw in California were $7.49 each.
Re: Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
Interesting..!
how are the items priced…??Any ideas…?
Re: Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
update: hubby and i tried the chicken seekh kabobs. i believe there was 6-8 pcs of kabobs in the package. flavor was good, but it sort of disintegrated and didnt stay intact after warming…so it was more like eating chunky keema :).
also, they must add lots of msg or something…because we were super thirsty for a while…
Re: Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
Lucky the people in USA, here Australia has not approved our country fit for importing the meat items due to certain hygenic reservations, as i wrote to K&Ns to please start dealing in Australia and they got back with this news to me. Even in ENgland my friend finds the chicken nuggets that are from Pakistan Ahhhhhhhh :hinna:
Re: Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
I have bought the butter chicken and seekh kebabs a few times. My local Pakistani grocery store sells them for $7.99 each. Husband and kids approved them. I usually only have it as a quick fix dinner when I don’t have time to cook.
Re: Shan Frozen Foods anyone?
I’ve tried the chicken and beef seekh kebabs. Cooked them in the toaster oven. Not too bad I must say. Stayed intact and cooked up nicely.
