Emotions are good , but in current situation its better to be sane . Accountability is right of people of Pakistan . They MUST use it forcefully to make the situation better . The very reason of independent media in all the developing country is to provide this accountability . I won't be bothered how much money they make unless they keep a check on the government to not to waste our money and fill their own pockets .

no, please care. but don't use and exploit them for your own selfish purposes. so-called educated ppl whine about poor people all the time. while employing an army of servants at home... some of them schoolgoing kids. educated ppl can't shut up about Islam being a deen, etc. and yet they don't have a problem when the servant sits on the floor in front of them.

I have nothing against media. I'm all for freedom of speech/media. but with power comes responsibility. and no one should have power who is not educated/trained enough to exercise it.
in the end, it's a question of credibility. if Nusrat Javed, Ayaz Amir, Talat Hussain, Kamran Shafi talk about issues, I'm willing to listen and learn. they have the pedigree, the education, the experience. I have respect for them. they are intellectuals whose integrity is beyond question.

even though I have no reason to defend my views, I will lay them out for you... more than being a PPP supporter, I'm a supporter of all reasonable political parties (JI and MQM are not real political parties, imo). however, yes I do lean left and therefore have a soft spot for the PPP. but I was firmly against the PPP when it wouldn't restore Justice Iftikhar Ch. and Justice Ramday.
this might blow a brain circuit or two... but I don't support or oppose anyone blindly. the question is one of principles. if the PPP does something principled and productive, I'm fully behind them. but if they screw up, I'll criticize them like I did when they made a "peace" deal with the butchers of Swat or when they wouldn't restore the judiciary.
however, one thing I will not do is criticize a democratic govt for failing in all of two years especially when military dictators get decades in one go to rule... and not even a mouse squeaks.
samb , you are redirecting you anger to wrong crowed man . In any society there are two types of people that citizen deal with . One who are answerable to them , and those who are not . Any politician , government servant , public office holder IS answerable to the general public , but a news anchor and a news channel is not . I am not saying that they should be free to do whatever , but I am saying that they are not directly answerable to public . The reason being that they don't run their business on Tax money that people pay . If you don't like them , then don't use them .
But government is same for all and it does effect each and every individual at many levels . You just can't stop using your government services and for the very same reason people talk about accountability of government so much . I totally agree that citizen should be more responsible , but responsibility always come with power . You can criticize citizen for not voting for right people , but if an elected government is not working correctly then its the fault of people running that government .
Do remember we do need some barking dogs to keep the big bear in check :)
