we muslims get so emotional that we forget the basic teachings of the Prophet.

From Sahih Bukhar:

Volume 2, Book 23, Number 377:
Narrated Abu Burda:

That his father said, "When Umar was stabbed, Suhaib started crying: O my brother! 'Umar said, 'Don't you know that the Prophet said: The deceased is tortured for the weeping of the living'?"

Our Prophet commanded us to minimize....the mourning for the dead. And we doin just the opposite. Goin on for centuries....

Pardon me for being insensitive, but I think its pretty dumb to cry and beat yourself over something which wasnt your own fault. If the guilt is that bad, why isnt something DONE about it, like set up some massive welfare organisation or do something for the betterment of the whole humanity rather than this, year after year?

I think hes been doing it for a long time now, sham-e-ghareeban is now a program that we got used to watching every year, even though I am not in the fiqah. Its knowledgable though. I think its live because Allama Talib Johri constantly keeps a check on his watch. I must say, he is the best man for this and handles it really well, and look forward to him doing it for the coming years.

ok here is a pic of him ...

first of all..we don believe in sahih sittah books..2ndly did you even read the rest of the post?

Personally, I find Allama Salman Turrabi a much better orator. What do you think Sheraz?? I heard him last yr i.e.2003 Majalis on Azadar.com etc. and liked his style a lot more than Allama Talib Johri. Gotta admit t/ fellow duz yell a lot "moqaa bay moqaa" ! Isn't he t/ son/ grandson of t/ legendary Allam Naseer Turrabi??

Can sum1 pls post a link of his Majalis for yr. 2004. cuz I was unable to find them for this yr. (a pic wud also be very much appreciated) Thanx:)
