they do go around arresting couples trying to get married, the punishment in most cases is 12 months prosecution
obviously, if ur applying for marriage visa from outside of the country to come to that country then they interview you then otherwise if your both already here, and if they suspect anything then they make some investigations secretly and then arrest them
Dude seriously, how are you so naive and stubborn... ?
Yes, they pulled it off, but then again there are some conditions on the marriage based green card. The employment based ones does not have any conditions.
The marriages I know of where it was a fake but they still "pulled it off" are cases where the 2 people are not strangers. They're usually friends who're "helping" one another and while married, they actually do live together (but are not sexually involved). Hence when USCIS does ask them questions about their partner or daily lives, they're convincing as a "couple" and also, any visits by USCIS doesn't matter since they actually do live as room mates.
Spock:
Employment based green cards also have their own set of conditions that must be met. For starters....you can not apply for it unless an employer is willing to sponsor you. In addition, U.S. citizenship through marriage is a lot faster through marriage than employment. As the spouse of a U.S. citizen, you're highter in the priority chain.

Well, I was talking about conditions (after approval)... There are none, trust me :D
p.s. technically its the same process, you do a I-140 instead of a I-130 in employment... However, there is a Dept of Labor process where the company has to prove that this employee is pretty much exceptional and cant be replaced with a citizen in the area.... That adds to the time, plus alot of the categories (esp those from china and india) are severely retrogressed and backlogged. However, if you have a PhD (EB-1), its actually faster than getting married. Also, there are no interviews in the employment based GCs :D

Yes, they are usually friends or introduced to each other for this purpose by a third party.
Sorry Spock it's my fault, I meant 12 months prison And not 12 months prosecution
any btw faris udeen, like stoppit said that the police do storm in and arrest the couples at the registry office as I have seen many situations as such on YouTube
*In uk and america for instance, the police and local authorities are arresting many couples who enter sham marriages and the punishment is like 12 months, they arrest them on the day of the wedding or even before
*
for example one couple, the guy was a pakistani and girl was lithuanian and neither could speak each others language or english, and they were arrested of entering a sham marriage as mostly everyone does it for the right to stay in that country
other reasons they suspect them of sham marriages is that the couple dont know anything about each other such as each others date of birth or full name, the authorities say that how can it be a real marriage if you dont know anything about the other person
but.... if you enter an arrange marriage, you hardly know each other, probably the only thing you might know is their first name, what happens if the authorities call ur marriage fake and send you both to prison for fraud?
i viewed the paronama documentary on this on i-player and subsequently called the solictor firm that were in the vid and gave him a piece of my mind. :@:
