So like what’s the deal with this place? It’s pretty popular with all the ppl in my family, xcept i kinda have reservations abt getting anything I need from there, coz its’ super cheap and (thus) not real..My dad said everything there is # 2 (fake) and there’s some real stuff as well.. can someone gimme any info?

sara wat do u want to buy and yeah ur Dad is right almost e'thing is #2 but there are some best stores where u can get e'thing #1 and real!!

Sara, there is no doubt that ShahAlmi is one of the best retail markets in Lahore. Its popular because of the people who "dont want" to go the Shadman, Liberty or Defense since these places get their stuff from ShahAlmi anyway.
ShahAlmi is the place during Basant and especially during and around the Eid and weddings seasons. Since the weather is nice in Lahore, I would recommend that you should go and eat some PaThoRay from RangMahel, look at some Jewelry at Sua Bazar and then buy some Bherkelay clothes from Gimtti, or if this is too much just sit on the steps of the RangMahel Post office get a glass of anar juice and enjoy the scene. I can assure you that the juice would be #1 stuff.

the way its called in Punjabi can never be written in English. Try writing (with correct pronunciation) Gheeo (ghee) in English. :)

It is very old market of lahroe, named after a person Shah Aalam ( some bigwig in mughal time ) it was constructed around one of the twelwe historic gates of Lahore city ( shah aalmi darwaza )
Most traders here were hindus in pre-partition era.
Partly because your dad himself does not live here, so he is not aware that the biggest jewlery market in lahore is Soa bazar (Rang mahal) so all the girls, women go there all the time plus all the samaan for jahez, crockery, pateeley, bed sheets, dinnerset, electronic and god know what else is available there and it is the main retail and whole sale market in lahore.
For buying lense there is no need to go there, go to liberty, Al fateh or Defense Y Block…
Shah almi is for hardcore shoppers
