I want to initiate a discussion, which has probably been discussed on previous forums, about the situation of the muslim world (needs no elaboration). Many muslims have lost hope in bringing about any sort of change and see thier actions to be fruitless and resort to hope that Imam Mehdi will arrive and lead the muslims out of thier dire situation.
I want your opinion on the issue. Do we undertake our own actions or wait for the imam to arrive?

This dilema reminds me of tale that has been told many times before.
There was once a king who demanded that his subjects demonstrate their loyalty to him. His advisers devised an idea - that all the subjects would each produce a glass of milk and pour it into an emty fountain-lake. The king would then end up with a fountain of milk donated by his loyal subjects as a symbol of his majesty.
Night came and every one came with a glass and poured its contents into the fountain-lake. This continued until the morning when the lake was full. Morning came, and the king, with his full entorage came up to the lake. Instead of milk, all they saw was a lake full of water. Why?
Each person thought to himself what a waste of milk it would be to perform such a task, why not pour water instead - it will make the same sound, and in the dark no one else will know. They thought since everyone else would pour milk, nobody would notice some water mixed into it.
This is the dilema the Muslims face today. We, sitting at our computers in our modest comforts are saddened to see the pictures on our tv's of Palaestine, Kashmir, and other parts of the world - we know something must be done, but we think that somebody else must be doing something so I dont have to and carry on living our lives. The result? Instead of a lake full of milk, we have a lake full of water.
Waiting for the Mahdi is not the solution. Only Allah knows when that time will be, and by that time I think it will all have been taken care of. What we need to do is take action now by correcting our own Iman and not blaming others.
Yes America and others are powerful, but remember this land is Allah's, the Americans are from Allah, as are the Jews, Hindus and Christians. Only Allah can bring them onto this earth and let them be oppressors, and ONLY Allah can remove them from this earth!

well said...suicide bombing is haraam. i ask you, no matter how zealous you are about a cause and no matter how correct it is, how would you feel if your family was flying on an airplane and some suicide bomber decided to "make it famous" by blowing it up?

well no one says u have to just sit at home and do nothing abt what is going on...u always have to try..and help Islam and keep the job of the prophet alive....sorry if this wasnt the answer u were looing for....
that is what my elder brother thinks! Imam Mehdi would form a khilaafah and sort everything out! probably because we don't see that change in the attitude of our governments & rulers which could re-unite muslims!
If there really is a God, I think he should attent to Somalia and the rest of the starving Africa before coming to the help of the Kashmiri Freedom Fighters and Arab Terrorists.

Mahdiyyat is not a designated position like prophethood Khilafah...Even the Mahdi will not know that he is the Mahdi...The Mahdi can be anyone and can come anytime, but arrive he will...Until that time NO ONE knows who it is...And in the words of the late Dr. Malik Ghulam Murtaza, "Until the arrival of Mahdi, you and I are Mahdis..."
