I was just reading a book written by Amar Jaleel and came across one of his comment which seems to be intersting:)
He says: (Translated from Sindhi to Urdu)
“Michael Angelo kee aulad se muhabbat kar sakte hain, Michael Angelo kee chitarkaree se muhabbat kar sakte hain, Michael Angelo kee mujassima sazee se muhabbat kar sakte hain, khud Michael Angelo se nuhabbat kar sakte hain par Michael Angelo kee beewee se muhabbat naheen kar sakte. Sohni duniya kee woh wahid shadee shuda aurat thee jo apne mian ko neend mein sote hue chor kar Mehaar se milne jatee thee par aaj tak woh badnaam naheen huee. Us mein kamal Sonhi aur Mehaar kee muhabbat ka naheen hai, is mein sara kamal Sachal Sarmast aur Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai ka hai”
If these two poets alongwith Baba Bulle Shah had not immortalised Sohni, had she been revered to this degree? And why is that we may blame them for immortalising them as how could these wise sages of their times who all had an indepth knwoledge of religion and they loved social fabrics of their times could have erred in immortalising such an affair?
