I found this image linked on BBC message board, apparently from some English (tabloid?) paper claiming to have caught Nazir handling the ball in a questionable manner just before the incident.
My questions would be:
(1) When exactly is this picture of, really from fourth day just before the incident? Was it BEFORE or AFTER Cook got out, becuase I don’t think Shahid Nazir bowled after Cook got out, and Umpires didn’t find anything wrong at the time of his dismissal. So I think this picture is meaningless, based on this point alone.
(2) The place where Shahid Nazir seems to be placing him finger, is this where the mark in question is located?
Re: Shahid Nazir's picture with questionable handling of the ball
:D Dear Che, I think my point in (1) is more helpful that Nazir wasn't bowling between the time Cook got out and Hair had noticed a problem with the ball, so this is a picture taken at a different time during the match and is irrelevant.
I hope and pray that you do not make the argument/justification you have just made here because "removing the leather that's sticking out" IS BALL TAMPERING :D you don't want to be seen doing that.
Re: Shahid Nazir's picture with questionable handling of the ball
underneath the pic it says it was taken shortly b4 the Pakistani team forfeited the match but they could be chatting it?!?!?!?! and besides one of the cameras would have had 2 be watching rite?
Re: Shahid Nazir's picture with questionable handling of the ball
I have read comments elsewhere that this picture is from a tabloid aiming to sensationalize the issue and sell more copies, and that the picture itself was taken AFTER the ball had already been changed. That does seem more plausible as Shahid Nazeer was brought in to bowl AFTER the ball had already been changed (and that's when he got KP's wicket as well).
Re: Shahid Nazir's picture with questionable handling of the ball
This is totally unacceptable, What is the connection of this image to this ball tempering issue.
I am from the UK and i hate the media and its biased approach towards the community in the UK. This picture was published in our local free daily newspaper today. I mean what was the point of doing that ? Obviously promoting disrespect for Pak nation.
They are trying to relate the above image to the recent incident and colouring public's mind. What a shame!
I back Inzimam and team's protest against the umpires...
Re: Shahid Nazir's picture with questionable handling of the ball
Nazir bowled the 42nd over of the innings and then was taken out of the attack. Cook was dismissed in the 52nd over.Umpire had the ball while new batsman came. The ball was later changed in 56th over, but still Nazir was not bowling. He finally came back to bowl the 65th over.
Re: Shahid Nazir's picture with questionable handling of the ball
Apparently that image is not conclusive the way I see it, but the issue is blow out of proportion so any material they (ICC, english media...etc) can get they will use it, why I say its not conclusive because he is not digging his nails in the ball to scuff up, that can be a piece of grass which can stick to the leather sometimes, if its the leather, its usually the umpire that cuts of the lose end.
Re: Shahid Nazir's picture with questionable handling of the ball
This solves the issue, yes? When you dig a little deeper and find out what the real truth is, it clears up the confusion. Once again, we are derailing from the issue-at-hand here. We cannot conclude positively that whether or not Shahid Nazir was involved in ball tampering since we already know before-hand that all of 26 Sky cameras did not pick up a single moving object, and we are, once again, leaning our stance towards theory rather than facts. Rubbish hypothesis such as this picture was thrown in just to generate a little revenue and profit, and it is merely nothing than a pure speculation and baseless allegation in itself. We have solid concrete evidence, as FKhan2 has noted above. Let's move away our focus from theories such as whether or not Nazir was the culprit in this case, and look into hard real-life facts.
Re: Shahid Nazir’s picture with questionable handling of the ball
For argument sake lets say its true and ligit pic and the subject was caught in the act ! don’t this becomes irrelevant after Hair Idiot (although given an opportunity by inzimam) did not give Inzi a reasonal reason to continue the match ) Even during the tea break non of the ICC jury punks approached Pakistan dressing room, it all wqas the other way around.
Did this idiot not brought this mess unto himself by this terrible misdemeanor ?
Pakistan nation and it’s cricket fans are quite right in highlighting earlier issues with this idiot Hair.
If some one says NO thats irrelevant to the present state of affairs, Then why I still hear for what happened in 80’s and 90’s BT allegations involoving Pakistan ?
