So after recent killings in Kashmir, Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi tweeted something in the grievance of human loss. But that was purely on the subject matter. Since then he was attacked by first Indian cricketers and then joined by thousands of trolls as well as pretty much entire Indian media
Whats your take on this?
Shahid Afridi’s tweet:
Like the loser Gautam Ghambir going all personal since he cant talk substance like most indians:
Good for Afridi for speaking out on this matter. He only stated facts. The whole world can see what atrocities the Indian army is committing in broad daylight.
What can be said about Gautam Gambhir, Indian Media and all the other trolls? Their reactions and behavior speak for itself. What else can be expected from terrorists?
Shahid Afridi has a right to express his views on the situation in Kashmir. (I have not followed the situation for a while, but I see no reason why Afridi would make things up).
Gautam Gambhir’s response was pathetically personal. And not called for. Times Now, when Arnab Goswamy was there was right wing. It appears they still are. I really don’t see how Afridi is a hypocrite if his cousin was killed in 2003. Why drag that into this situation and muddy the waters.
Since Modi has taken over, the public and the media have become increasingly right wing. Liberal news people such as Rajdeep Sardesai (cricketer Dilip Sardesai som) are mocked as anti India and pro you know which country. I bet liberal journalists such as Rajdeep Sardesai would not spout such venom.
Which brings us full circle. Liberal journalists across the border are also mocked as being pro you know which country.
India can’t suppress Kashmiri freedom sentiments at gun point anymore… The sooner they realize it the better it would be for them…besides… i am very disappointed with our army and government… we need to heat things up at LoC… stop playing gulli danda with small weapons… Send in some troops, get some indian solider’s heads and come back and repeat it every night… Make every night “Red” for them…
Quote me at your own risk…
Sid, I agree with you. As I stated in my earlier comment, Indian people are becoming more right wing. When I went there last, i was surprised to see folks I thought were liberal were not. Fake god men rule the roost.
Re media people I think The Hindu, The Times of India are reasonable. And there are plenty liberal commentators on TV. I mentioned one name above.
The right wing media shouts the loudest. And shouts over the liberals, much as in the west.
Actually your first sentence is spot on. The Hindus who have bigoted views towards Kashmiris do not have a leg to stand on wrt rights in the west. Doesn’t mean one should support their rights to be violated. But their actions do not give them the moral high ground to expect their rights to be respected elsewhere.
And n, if one criticizes those specific Hindus it does NOT mean one is “bunching”all Muslims together.
Looks like what I said went right over your head, not surprised. I would take the time to explain my analogy but why bother if you were not smart enough to understand it in the first place?
