The way things stand right now, Australia should defeat England and it will be upto Pakistan to beat Zimbabwe by a huge margin. Although he hasnt shown any promise in the world cup so far I think Shahid Afridi might be the key figure in that match. We dont need just a win we need a win by a big margin and to do that we need a blazing opening stand.

We bat first or second it doesnt matter but I think to have a chance to qualify we will have to open with Afridi with the instructions to go after the bowling right away. If he can fire a quick 60-70 odd runs we should be able to get a sizable total above 300 if batting first or if batting second it will take us closer to the targest much more quickly.

Though it is risky to open with him, and Taufeeq and Saeed did a great job today but I think we will have to open with Afridi to stand a chance to go to the super six stage.

What do you all think??

butt Afridii wicket par tik jaye wohi bohat hia.. we wont expect him to hit the boundry in every ball.. its like.. har over main singlee laitay raho aur end main aik boundry.. that will do it..

and atleast we should score min 300 runs if we bat first..

Yeah....the WC is pretty much over for Pakistan so might as well give Afridi the bat and give him the green light to play the way he wants to play. Chahay woh 0 banai yaa 100, chances are Pakistan won't make it to the super sixes. But miracles do happen. Good Luck to Pakistan.

well sir, Afridi is not even a hope for us now. You’re actually claiming that we depend on HIM?? That he could give us a better score and hit some boundries?

It’s been such a long time I guess since he scored above 20 or 25, and you expect him to score for the team!! I don’t have any problem with anyone else but him.

What he says is that they should let him be the opener and he’s a good one and can show them what he can do. Well, no wonders he’s a good one eh, he hits 4 or a 6 on the first ball and goes out on the second one! Well that actually increases his strike rate but it doesn’t do anything good for the team. I’m sorry to say that he’s no good anymore, well he never was.

He barely scores over 20, and still i don’t get it why people think he’s a good one. Why is he considered good? Because he made a record? Oh well that was probably because he had Tendolkar’s bat! It was his good luck. He barely stays on the wickets, so how can we expect him to score 60 or 70 for the team! But our people still have a hope from him, and who still do, they should forget about it I guess. I think Inzamam (even if he didn’t play well since the world started), Razzak, Saeed and other batsmen are better than Afridi. No wonders even Shoaib can score better than him :rolleyes:. Well atleast he did when we needed someone. Lekin what did Afridi do?

They gave him a chance as an opener, he didnt do any good.
They gave him a chance to be the second, third, forth, fifth, sixth, and seventh person, but he still didn’t do anything. Well you can’t alway say that it was his bad luck you know. Bad luck can change into a good luck if you “want” to play for the team and your niyat is good. If you keep on thinking that you wanna break Saeed’s 194 wala record (as he said), well try scoring 20 first, and then think about that one!

I’m sorry, but no offence yaar, he’s just no good for our team. Although he could be if he tries to hit the ball on the ground and play with patience, because thats what we need in sports! Getting grumpy and all that won’t make him win, right! If he’s good then he should be able to play at any number they send him to bat, lekin he’s not showing his best since a long time, so, maybe he’s not that good as some people think he is!

I think Pakistan have finally found too real genuine openers, Saeed and Taufeeq, Afridi is crap! We expect him to hit 4s and 6s everytime, he hits a 4, and then he gets out!
even Shoaib is better than him.
Anybody can hit out of the ground!

Pakistan's chances have alot to do with today's match between Aus and Eng, so far Aus on top with Eng being 75/4.

We when play afridi, we play 1 less batsman or bowler. Rather we play a tape-ball cricketer. If we want to play afridi we might as well play with a 10 player team.

Now realistically with Australia winning the way it did today against England (i am surprised…8 wickets down and still they did win…Kudos! :k: ) what our chances are if at all?

Can we have some numbers please..i mean the margins or no. of overs/total runs on the board which would enable us to sneak in to Super Sixes…if at all.

Comeone guys, stop this Afridi, I am ready to go with anyone to thro him in some waters, lets say Ganga / Jamna ;)

I like the determination shown by Inzimam when he went out to crease against India, he really looked like resoulte to score big, but made stupid decision again to snap the strike from another in-form batsman (Saeed). I wish he can deliver in this game

Well everybody had a lot of bad things to say about Afridi but I think the truth of the matter is if Pakistan is to score 350 odd runs we will need Afridi up the order. Thats our only chance of getting anywhere near that big 350 mark.

He is technically a wrong player. No footwork. No shot selection.... whatever but he still is the only hope Pakistan has to score quick runs.

afridi is hopeless.....hes not a batsmen
the board shouldnt have just sent imran nazir home....they shudve polished him.....he n taufeeq will make a good opening pair!
