Not only has he legitimized the cause the Taleban are ‘fighting’, he has implicitly condoned bombing in parts of the country that have a different policy towards Kerry-Luger bill/Musharraf than his own. In effect, carry on the good fight in Sindh and NWFP.

shame on Shahbaz. He is too experienced politician to choose these words. So he wants taliban to not operate in "punjab" (only - they can carry out the bombings in rest of the country if they like) because PML(N) is oppose to foreign powers? Now NS and SS meets every single tom, dick and henry from USA can be ignored.

i would say lal masjid operation was justified and frenzy was created by hamid mir, shahid masood out of total lies.

This is exactly what i was referring to in the Lahore blast thread. Unless the mindset of army/isi/politician is NOT changed, the bombing will continue.
1. Few days back PML-N was ferrying around the leader of SSP during the NA election to gain votes.
2. LeT is now an internationally recognized terrorist organization. A few days back in lahore, his leader Hafiz Muhammad Saeed was openly calling for violent jihad. Obviously arm/isi still thinks of it as valusble "asset"

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif clarified that his statement regarding Taliban sparing Punjab from attacks had been taken out of context.
Shahbaz now stated that his remarks were misinterpreted and taken out of context. He said that he had always spoken in support of all victims of terror, especially the people of NWFP who were bearing the brunt of the terrorist attacks in the country.
Shahbaz added that with the entire country facing the threat of terror, and he always spoke in the larger interest of the country but some people are interpreting him wrongly.
Shahbaz’s clarification came after widespread condemnation by various political parties and some very harsh words from the Punjab governor.

The meeting discussed in detail security situation and the terrorist activities in Lahore particularly the recent suicide attacks in Lahore Cantonment area and Model Town.
They also exchanged views on the efforts being made by the army and police for maintenance of peace besides enhancement of the operational capacity of the law enforcing agencies.

He only distanced himself from Taliban attacking Punjab part of statement. He didn't deny his and Taliban cause being the same.

You reading into much into it.
Lets say if someone says, *if Taleban are fighting for cause of Islam, they should not be killing muslims. *Does that mean, the person is condoning attacks on non-muslims? No he actually means that they are not fighting for cause of Islam, which evident from the fact that they are killing muslims.
Same goes for Shahbaz, he is saying "if" (the key word) were fighting against the foreign influence, they would not have been attacking Punjab. Though a better choice of words would have been, "Taleban are not fighting against foreign influence, but ulterior motives, bcos if they were, they would not have been attacking Punjab".
Now you can criticise him for mentioning only Punjab instead of Pakistan, but, then he is CM of Punjab and thats his domain to work in. And then again, its only NWFP and Punjab that are under attack. Compared to these two provinces, other areas of Pakistan have rarely been under attack of Taleban.
