Even an overdue achievement should be acknowledged :)
Riding on a solid electoral mandate, Shahbaz is ruling one of the most naturally-gifted province. He is a king in Punjab in the sense that he neither has to worry about coalition partners, nor about the tiny opposition in the Punjab Assembly. But let us give the guy his due credit. He leads from the front and keeps his team on its toes. As I said earlier about his misplaced priorities and his love for concentration of power in his office, you can compile an effective charge-sheet against him easily. But if you look around and compare his leadership, energy and efficiency with other chief ministers, you will find him head and shoulders above his counterparts.
What you have described are called 'photo-ops', something SS specializes in. If Punjab were limited to Lahore, I would give him credit, but unfortunately, most of Punjab is prospering 'despite' SS, not because of SS. His autocratic style has hurt Punjab more than help it. It has stalled progress on many fronts. He has effectively destroyed all institutions in Punjab in order to concentrate all power in his hands, and that alone is a crime bigger than any flyover, motorway or power plant. We have to look at things in perspective. Whenever a girl is raped or killed, police does not act until SS goes to the victim's house, makes a song and dance, and tells the police to 'arrest the culprits'.
Simply put, this is a businessman, trying to pass himself as a leader.
