Shahbaz Sharif Creating Jobs

As would any dedicated chief minister would do to bring about long-lasting improvements in economy, Shahbaz Sharif is focusing his efforts at creating new jobs. Here is the latest example

Ex-DG ISI Ziauddin Butt appointed Chairman CMIT | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online

The Punjab govt has appointed a Lieutenant General-who gained notoriety for violating the Army’s discipline by towing political line of action-as Chairman Chief Minister’s Inspection Team.
Lieutenant General (Retd) Ziauddin Butt, who has been appointed as Chairman CMIT on contract, is a retired Pakistan Army Engineering officer and the ex-Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He was later nominated as Chief of the Army Staff in 1999 by the then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after dismissing the then COAS Gen Pervez Musharraf.
The move backfired as Nawaz Sharif govt was removed by the military and Ziauddin sacked and subsequently arrested, and Court-martialled for being part of the ‘conspiracy’.
In 1964, Ziauddin Butt was commissioned in Pakistan Army’s Corps of Engineers - a non-fighting arm. It was part of the reason that Army high command sided with Musharraf in ousting Ziauddin as the Army chief, as since 1947 the slot of the COAS had always belonged to the fighting arm (infantry, armoured corps or artillery).

Lol... Who says the loyalty doesn't pay!

However I don't agree with the news item that he had violated army discipline. Army personnel take oath to protect the constitution... and it was in fact the retired ex chief of the army who violated the army discipline by ignoring the orders of his boss, then commander in chief, the Prime Minister of Pakistan at that time.

Another feather in Shahbaz’s cap is apointment of notorious Rana Maqbool ex-IG as Public Prosecution Department secretary. We\hen Shahbaz came he claimed that no retired person would be re-appointed due to so-called good governance.. now he is obliging these kind of persons..

Controversial Rana Maqbool appointed as Prosecution secy
** Former Sindh IGP is accused of torturing Asif Zardari during his imprisonment in Karachi

Aaj Kal Report*

LAHORE: The Punjab government has appointed former Sindh inspector general of police (IGP) Rana Maqbool Ahmed as the Public Prosecution Department secretary.

Rana Maqbool and several other high ranking police officials are accused of unlawfully obtaining the physical custody of Asif Ali Zardari, when he was being held in a Karachi prison, in 1999 and subjecting him to torture and forcing him to record incriminatory statements. According to the prosecution, Zardari suffered injuries to his tongue and other parts of his body due to the torture while the police refused to register an FIR against the officials, attributing the injuries to Zardari’s bid to commit suicide instead.

On April 19, 2008, a close aide to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had told Daily Times that Nawaz had conveyed a message to General (r) Ziauddin Butt – the former director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) who was appointed chief of army staff by Nawaz triggering the coup by Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf in 1999 – and Rana Maqbool that they would be “accommodated at an opportune time”.

Talking to Aaj Kal, political observers said the move could destabilise the reconciliation process initiated by the Pakistan People’s Party. They said the decision was “a matter of additional concern” as it was made while President Zardari was out of the country.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. If I am on a post where I can get someone a job, don't you think that will be my brother, cousin or close friend??
