Shah Mahmood's press conference

Was he bitter about being kicked out of office or was this genuine?

25:00 ahead is relevant to Raymond Davis case.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

talking in purely political perspective, it is a political suicide. now he has no political future. he should have gone with party's desicison to keep his politics alive. if he genuinely thought that he was working for the sake of the country then he should be ready for the sacrifice.
i think it is just ego issue.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

the guy is sane.......its just a matter of time before people start distancing themselves from this govt to have any hope for next elections....

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

Ego .... ministry and nothing else. I thought he was one of very few good guys in PPP (like Javed Hashmi in PML(N) ) but he proved that he too was after important ministry. By his own words he was ready to take foreign ministry but only when he was deprived of that, his "Zameer" wake up...

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

Well on the contrary he really played it nice and saved his political career by disassociating himself from Raymond issue.

They all know that any body who is going to support Raymond Davis issue will be the next Salman Taseer :)

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

^ ^ how so?
he is now an outcast in PPP. he has no future outside PPP. he cannot join PML. he may be considered a hero in future but he wont have a political career left. he may win every election he contests but he cannot join a cabinet.
in his own words he wanted to retain his ministry. he didnt get it, he went rouge.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

And still he is more liked and supported in his area multan - much more then PPP's prime minister :)

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

Just curious, when he can join PPP due to election ticket issue when he was in PML(N), why he cant join PML(N) back from PPP on another issue?

I believe (correct me if I am wrong), he was in PML but when NS issued ticket to Javed Hashimi from Multan, shah Mahmood left PML and joined PPP.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

may be you are right. but still it makes him a local leader, not a national leader. like i said, he cannot be a federal minister again.
BTW being a foreign minister is not a prized ministry, he didnt do squat for multan.
for three years he towed american line, he built national concensus on kerry lugar bill. its only towards end he refused to obey his party.
in my opinion his federal ministerial ambition is over.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

well he left PML N a long time ago and now the people of Pak dont like lotas too much. he can join PML if they take him back but he cannot be a minister of his likeness i.e. foreign ministry. because of two reasons
1. America bahadur dont want him to be there.
2. Foreign ministry is a very strong ministry and PML has a lot of loylists who would like that post.

PS. On personal note i hate the way he talks so slowely.

if he cannot be a FM then he wont ruin his leftover career and join PML. at best he can try to form his own party or join some other break away party.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

is it a case of jumping off a sinking ship?

Re: Shah Mahmood’s press conference

Whether what he is saying is out of bitterness, ego or want for ministry the guy must be credited that he has not changed his stance, he has not bowed to the pressure, he stood up for what he thinks is right :k:

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

i dont think his politics will die, he belongs to a well loved and revered syed family in multan which has followers upto Upper-Central Sindh and many peoples party candidates in multan and sindh get votes of his followers...he can join some other party if he wants to, as he has improved his image as compared to the other minsters who have again exposed themselves in this issue

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

by the way as it seems he had lost his ministry due to his stance, so his stance hasent changed after the loss but its the other way round...how come the american chamchas were able to retain their portfolios?

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

I dont believe it was due to his stance on Raymond that he got fired. Secretary foreign affairs Salman Bashir has been more vocal in his stance that Pakistan can not give immunity to Raymond and that now its for Court to decide. He should have been fired or transfered first eh?

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

then why's the reason he got fired and malik is still there? if he was not performing in the foreign ministry why was he offered water and power ministry? why have we not got any foreign minister now? fo spokesman abdul basit has been replaced on his own 'request'. I'm sure the same will happen to Salman Bashir if he does not toe american line.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

It is not correct. The both are from different constituencies. It was very open when he left N. No one is leaving PPP.
All are waiting for some good time.
The total of such leaders is growing up, Many big names there in this list.

Re: Shah Mahmood’s press conference

I am not talking about constituencies but it was issuance of ticket for some seat in south Punjab to Javed Hashim instead of one who has support of Qureshi.

btw, here is something interesting to read. This report can not be ridiculed out right when Qureshi and Shahbaz Sharif had long one-on-one meeting yesterday. Qureshi can be a good tool for NS against Javed Hashimi

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

N$ has Mr bean with him.
Mr Bean and Malkoo Nai are doing same.
One with Hashmi & other with Qureshi.

Re: Shah Mahmood's press conference

Who does Salman Bashir report to?
