KP ministers supporting power thieves: Abid Sher

**State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali Wednesday lashed out at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for line losses and pending electricity bills.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Abi Sher Ali accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister of backing power thieves.
“It is easy to stage sit-ins and difficult to show performance,” he said.
Abid Sher Ali said that MPAs including Fazal Elahi, Shah Farman, Ahmad Zari and others have failed to ensure that the people in their constituencies pay their dues to Pesco.
“Around 90% of the users in their constituencies are defaulters,” he said. He further said that PESCO employees were tortured when they visited the areas to make recoveries.
“We will cut those hands now if anyone manhandled our staff again,” the minister warned.
The minister also said that certain areas bordering Peshawar have become no-go locations for Pesco employees who cannot carry on with their work because of security threats.

As usual you did not attempt to follow up on it, so you dont know what the story was behind Abid Sher Ali’s outburst.

90% of the power theft in KPK is because PESCO takes power from KPK registered meter holders, and sells it off under to table to TESCO at flat rates. There is no billing in TESCO under agreement with the federal govt, so they use electricity without refrain, and all their usage is billed to the meters that PESCO is stealing from. As a result, you have poor villagers living in 1 room houses in Nowshera, with nothing more than a bulb and fan in their house, receiving bills of Rs50,000 per month against the electricity that is stolen from their meters.
This theft is conducted by WAPDA itself, and it began during ANP/PPP tenure. There is a reason why Abid Sher hasnt fired the PESCO chief even after his house was raided.
