Re: shadi jewelry
Well I'd like to inform my in laws other wise. I mean who says you gotta follow every damn tradition? I'd much rather have useful stuff in my jahez or if it's gotta be clothing, then some of my own choosing, and the rest cash....

Re: shadi jewelry
No those long rani haar are not practical and outdated. My mom forced me to get one also in plain yellow gold and i really never wore it. But I have several of the large chocker style haar that sarah516 posted and I've worn them many times since my Shaadi. You get invited to dinners then other people's shaadi's. They look best with the current style of shalwar kameez. They're more modern and versatile than a raani haar. So show your mom pictures of 'modern brides' and explain that if you want to get more mileage for your money then go for what you like best.
Re: shadi jewelry
Is this a raani haar?

Re: shadi jewelry
I agree with Saima that Rani Haar is outdated und not pratical. I had mines like the one's Sarah posted, a little too big for parties but could still be worn at some weddings.
I will get the beads replaced with some smaller ones later on:
