Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

u can add a nice shade of tea pink into that grey perhaps?

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

how about this:

Basic idea is from this outfit:

starting from top, gray shirt, gray gharara turning teal at bottom (shaded gharara) with silver+gold kaam on borders, ruby pipings on shirt and gharara bottom; And a ruby dupatta with teal pipings all around.

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

^ hrmm… thats interesting… so it would be pale grey, pale teal, and then ruby… hrm… i think i need to visit a fabric store!

ziggy, oi! that outfit is terrible! i much prefer my black/grey imaginary version!

i do like this one too- http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/80452/5-big1.jpg

and this one has all the colours i mentioned, but i’m not feeling them all together http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/80452/70.jpg

i’m sort of leaning towards an all pearly grey gharara with pearls, those little diamantes, silver/dull gold kaam, and then just work the turqoise and plum in with piping? like the Karma devi bridal- http://karma.collection.pk/product_info.php?products_id=124

so instead of green, it’d be grey
instead of orange, it’d be turqoise
and instead of the dark purple piping at the edge of the shirt and at the bottom of the gharara (look closely), it’d be ruby

i could switch the ruby and turqoise too and make the dupatta ruby but it would really depend on what the bride is wearing.

also, would it be odd to get silk or metallic gold/silver thread embroidery, like the machine stuff? is that even possible on a gharara? i have a shirt with metallic machine embroidery on it and its so pretty - i love the soft sheen it gives. and then i could get that enhanced with pearls and diamantes? or does it have to be all hand-embroidered?

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

SGC check out Elle's November issue and on the cover you'll see Prenelope Cruz wearing a strapless dress in midnight blue with the purple you posted earlier. The midnight blue has a sheen of pink/purple...it's some sort of double shaded satin...very easy to find in Pakistan. The background of the cover was a dull grey and totally reminded me of your thread. I like your recent idea of keeping most of the oputfit grey and adding accent colours. I'd do a think border around the dupatta in the accent colours.

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

^ ok i looked it up and that turqoise is exactly the shade i’m thinking and that grey is luscious too! thanks naqsa!
the purple though isn’t doing it for me.

maybe i need to think about a different colour, hrmm…

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

So this is for the Wedding or Valima (sorry I haven't read the whole thread)

I'm asking because I've usually seen blueish grey colors for the valima

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

I am loving the grey!!

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

this is for me for my bro's wedding, aishaa. i'm not the bride.

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

chanda, mmm… that grey with eggplant! oi. this is very difficult.

its this outfit, yeah? http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/80452/12-big.jpg

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

^ i know right :)..or a rich burgundy...subtly fading into a gorgeous pink.. ck your fb inbox

and yes its that one!

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

^ i was also thinking paler grey and yellow plus just a teensy bit of a pale pink. its not conventionally a gharara combo but it would be so fresh!
there was a HSY gharara in those colors, but with offwhite instead of grey, and its been a long-time favourite of mine.

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

SGC...I hope you will be sharing pictures once the outfit is ready....
Would really love to see it...:)

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

ive got it!

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

^ too much choice! haha

ok so pale grey, yellow and pink OR silvery-grey with purple/hot pink OR blue-grey with eggplant like the chinyere gharara above.
my mom would say the grey needs a brighter color to "lift it" and make it livelier.

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

i would do
a) sari with the chinyere combo, a sleeveless deep eggplant velvet blouse with a chiffon grey and purple two toned sari..(antique gold work).

b) the gharara with pale grey/yellow/pink..

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

although the chinyere gharara looks great as is..

Re: Shades of Grey - Wedding gharara

basically i would use the chinyere gharara and substitute these colors

**
can someone tell me where this dress is from? anyone know?

love the outfit. so different!** :jano:
