It seems like lot of Pakistani fans have quite high expectation from these players. But I just want to tell one thing, these two players are almost done, they will never be the same bowlers as they used to be..
Shabbir had his knees operated recently, I dont think he will ever be the same bowler what he used to be. Knee injury is quite serious for the fast bowlers, knee, ankle and back injuries are carrier threatning for the fast bowlers.
Umar Gul had stress fracture in his back, he injured almost three to four vertebra, thats a serious blow for his carrier. It would be quite difficult for him to come back and start his carrier as a fast bowler. He might re-injured his back if he played the game.
I had these same thoughts but didn't want to put them into words. I think Shabbir has much more chances of coming back and staying with the team than Umar Gul (who will likely get reinjured or remain fragile like Shoaib). I've been saying this over and over again, that we really need to find more firepower for our bowling department.... Rao, Asif, Khalil don't cut it. May be we should bring Irshad and Yasir Ali in the team or Pakistan A team for grooming.
