As much as I admire Rana saab's dedication, hard work and skills as displayed so convincingly in Australia, we have to remember that there is a world of difference between conditions in Australia and India. Line and length seamers like Rana will do reasonably well in conditions of Australia and England. But to expect them to replicate that kind of performance in India/Pakistan may not be a reasonable expectation.
Razzaq has the same issue, where he can do nothing to make batsmen commit mistakes. Its a gentle bowling that batsman can hit at will.
What you need is either a tear-away speedster or one who can swing and reverse swing with considerable speed to create problems for the batsmen. Else, you need quality spinners.
Faisal. That is a good point. I totally agree - but its important to mention that this these kind of express pacers are only required against a good batting team. If you are playing Sri Lanka or India you need these kind of pacers. But against us or Bangladesh you canget away with medium pacers with good line and length who can swing the ball a bit. Note the success of of Balaji and Pathan against us.
In our case the batsmen give away their wickets so you dont need bowlers who take wickets with brilliance. I bet you if Razzaq and Rana bowled against our batting lineup they would take mad wickets.
Shabbir will be a great assett for one day series if he is fit. Not so sure if Shoaib wants to join the team right now. Maybe his mindset is such that he wants to teach management a lesson. Wrong approach maybe :D
