**Shab-e-tanhaai ke rang
(i)
Shab-e-tanhaai meiN sitaaroN ka libaada orrhey
teri yaadoN ke jugnu sey chamakney lagtey heiN
aur dil pe cha jaata hey khud-farebi ka aesa aalam
ke har taraf teri hi aamad ka samaaN hota hey
jesey kisi aavaaz ke dhoke meiN koi murr kar dekhey
jesey sehra meiN saraaboN ka gumaaN hota hey

(ii)
Shab-e-tanhaai meiN dil ke nehaaN-khaanoN par
guzrey lamhoN ki shabnam si parrney lagti hey
aur merey hawaas pe tu ho jati hey qaabiz aesey
ke nazar besaakhta nakalti hey justuju meiN teri
jesey chaand kisi ko dhooNdney ke leeye nikalta hey
jesey koi baccha kisi khiloney ke leeye machalta hey

(iii)
Shab-e-tanhaai meiN be’cheniyoN ke aalam meiN
dil apney aap sey hi baar baar ulajhta hey
aur azyateiN is tarhaN ho jaati heiN gaalib mujh par
ke dard ka toofaan har rag meiN dorr jaataa hey
jesey mojeiN saahiloN ki haddeiN torr deti heiN
jisey dharrkaneiN diloN ka saath chorr deti heiN

(iiii)
Shab-e-tanhaai meiN aadat teri khushbu’oN ki
dil-e-na-kaam ko kuch aur sataaney lagti hey
tab dhoNdney lagta hooN meiN har su aaNchal tera
aur be-qaraari meiN yuN raahat si milney lagti hey
jesey koi muflis zar ke khaab sey behal jaata hey
jesey koi marney sey pehley zara deir ko sambhal jaata hey

(v)
Shab-e-tanhaai meiN mosam teri rafaaqat ke
gup-andheroN meiN ujaaley sey bekheir detey heiN
gham-e-firaaq ki chaadar ko cheer detey heiN
aur dil ik lamhey ko ho jaata hey shaadaab aesey
jesey chaand ka aks kisi jheel meiN utar jaata hey
jesey koi sookha peirr sabz pattoN sey bhar jaata hey

merey tasavvur ka tavaaf sa karney lagti hey
tab phir sey khilti heiN umangoN ki laakhoN kalyaN

jesey kisi dil-ruba ki aaNkh meiN iqraar ka zahoor
jesey kisi un-kahi si baat ka be-naam sa saroor
