i was reading something about Mahatama Gandhi the other day…and come across this word “Shaanti Sena”…The Peace Army…
though the idea to form such an organization was introduced by mahatama, it actuallay was founded by his successor Vinoba…and ofcourse the whole thing is based upon mahatama’s Passive resistence theory…
i wud like to know more about this organization (any one?)…whether this organization still exists in India?? and if so…is it doing anything about the violence in Kashmir???

unfortunately, the shanti sena is not around anymore. if i remember right, it was disbanded(?) around 1975. shanti sena was supposed to be an unarmed peace-keeping force, a non-political organization, and was reasonably effective in its early years to control riots. but the early 70s was the period of political agitation, and with JP emerging as a leader, shanti sena faded away.
my dear india is now a very different india from what it was in 1947 .gandhi is long dead and so is shanti sena .there is no shanti sena in india .india is now ruled by the people who killed gandhi .the rss is ruling india there is no shanti sena in india only hindu goons and thugs in form of rss and shiv sena
