Can someone explain to me the background to Shaam e Gharebaan and where the myth arose from that it is linked with an orgy?
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
First of all it is not MYTH. It is called night of ghareeb people (ie the children and women of Prophet). After all the men were shaheed, the yazid army went to the tent, they snatched the rida (chadar/parda of womenn) and burned their tent. They ran horses on the bodies of suhda.
It wouldn't be bad if you people read some authentic history before making stupid claims.
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
Lusi, do you care to define Ghareeb? I am sure it does not mean the children and women of Prophet. Anyway, the claim (as you called it) was regarding today's tradition or sexual orgies that take place at such occasions.
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
^ Sexual orgy? haha. That's the best your Wahhabi mufsid brain could think of?
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
Khoji, nice assumptions. Do you know me to make such claims? I am not the one making the claim, the original poster did. Are you so blind in your hatred that you have lost the ability of comprehension? Now, try again and explain in a civil manner why such claim is false.
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
Ok. Sorry about that. I just read only your post, not the original one. Apologize.
The story about sexual orgy is the figment of mufsid yazidi brains. These diseased brains created this myth because shias usually turn off lights at the arrival of night of 10th Muharram. This is done in remembrance of black-out in the camps of Prophet's family.
khush?

shaam-e-ghareebaan is the night of the helpless/mazloom(or something like that)....it is the 11th night(not day, rememebr islamic day starts at maghrib)...and it's said that after teh day of ashoora and after the martyrdom of most of the men in the army of the Holy Prophet (saw)'s grandson Hz. Hussein(ra), their tents were burnt down and their women and children were taken captives....lights are switched off during maghrib time till late, and candles are lighted(to symbolise the tents on fire, i guess).....i havent heard of tht orgy myth and personally know no such thing takes place, and it's probably dveloped out of hatred for the twelver shias(not all shia's comemorate this night/evening)...what does take place is mourning..

when u talk about the literal meaning, it means something else...but when u're talking about this particular subject(ie sham-e-ghareebaan) then it means the women and children of the Prophets(saw)'s household and the other soldiers fighting with them..

attacking others beliefs in general isnt a very good thing, and since u're acting in the same way as the people who made claims of this orgy thing, u shouldnt be offended yea?

Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
Wow.
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
^^ I know ..right .. wow ..
However, I ve heard many stories in regards to this .. although i dunno which is true and which isnt …
However, I do know that amongst shia are branches and apparently only '‘some’ practice this bijli loadshedding ![]()
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
I am not going to make fun of someone beliefs.
But what i will say is that Shia’s are better to mourn than those who do not.
Even if the ceremony is a bit strange i have seen worse… ![]()
Lets not make assumptions though unless we know the truth.
As for the night there is plenty of historical evidence as to it’s events… i dont need to rend my heart again as i relate them.
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
the question is not about the night in question as such but what happens during it. ive heard some inapp. behaviour takes place but i didnt believe it.
could it be a reference to young adults (messers) who take advatage of the situation? or is one strand of shiasm more guilty then that?
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
You guys are completely messed up if you actually believe in this bs.
Though I gotta admit, I have no objections towards this sort of Shaam-e-Ghareeban xD
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
^Hehe great attitude… i like it. ![]()
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
a friend asked a ****e friend and she was mum about it.
Where do Zakirs come from, that's what I'd like to know.
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
why would there be an orgy specifically at sham e ghariban.. its kinda hard to fit that into the narrative.
speaks to the interestingly kinky mind at the source of the urban myth... jahan andhera dekha orgy shru.

Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
Have you guys heard of the hadees that its enough for a Muslim to become a liar is that he/she forwards a news without confirming ..
and this is not just a lie, this also comes under gheebat.
I dont care if you have problem with shia'ism - but spreading a rumor that they conduct that hideous sexual act on that night .. astaghfarullah .. people go their with their mothers and sisters and daughters -
shame on the people who spread such rumors.
There are plenty of these 'myths' about shias out there, where they originated from who knows, but what we do know is that these accusations say alot more about the accusers filthy minds then it does about anything else. TBH If it wasn't quite sickening, it would have been laughable.
Re: Shaam e Gharebaan & Urban myth about Shiaism?
througout history people started rumours about the ‘other’, and these are often sexual in nature, because sexual crimes tend to grab people at the visceral level. take for example rumours about blacks raping white women that were often used to trigger lynchings against black people in america, when it is emperically proven that it was predominantly the other way round. likewise consider the witch hunts of medieval times which resulted in tens of thousands of women killed based on these same rumours.. infact many of the urban myths abt shias are straight out of the witchhunts.
what is amazing that a single person buys it in this day and age. every imam bargah in the country is open to the public. every imam bargah in muharram assumes the right to blare on loudspeakers whats going on inside, presumably any orgies would be very difficult to hide.
However, I ve heard many stories in regards to this .. although i dunno which is true and which isnt ...
Only a sex pervert bc will believe such stories.
