Traditionally in our family the guy is expected to dress the girl on both functions and vise versa. But i know that now usually the girls side will just pay for the groom to go get what he want, but for most of the family the girls still get their clothes from their in laws.

In our house barrat suit if from the maayka and valima suit if from the susraal side. I think its good.

The baraat day dresses from both sides come from the girl's side and the valima dresses come from the guy's side.

ya its in my family too.. barat and valima the bride is dressed from head to foot by the grooms side and the grooms is dressed by teh brides side..

my in laws are punjabi so i had to do my own barat outfit and they did my valima.. we still went ahead and did his both day outfits.
