Salaam everyone… ok so brief intro.. I am gettinmarried this summer in PA near pittsburgh, theres NOTHING here. so i need to still get my jewlarry, I was plannign on hitting up gerard street in Tornot fer that, also i wanted to get my nose pierced :blush:.. any suggestions? i need a desi place for this b/c i need gold!.. also..
i am gettin food catered frm NYC (pakistani)… any suggestions???
i gotta decorater frm NJ, im thinkin abt photographer right now.. main worries are jewlarry and foood?? (i have my dress frm Zardozi already alhumdullilah!)

Any suggestions would be apprecitaed… Thanks gurls!

for food, shaheen/roti boti is very good in jackson heights. you can call them to get a quote. i don't like kebab king anymore and recently all the events they catered at had bad food. shaheen has a new management now and they seem to be doing a great job. for the jewelry, why don't you go to jackson heights?

Nose piercings can be done at cosmetic jewellery stores like Afterthoughts and ICING i think. They have a variety of studs you can choose from.

Like shay said, try looking at jewellery from NYC or TO, whatever is convenient for you. I know there are plenty of stores on Devon street in CHicago too. Good luck!

www.romikajewels.com is toronto-based as well, but not on gerrard... so if you're coming up here, might as well pay them a visit too.

ok so i wanted to do piercing in tronto b/c i have done it b4 at like goray places and b/c its not 100% gold it got infected kinda... so i got my ears done in pak.. so i figured some desis couldnt hurt my nose....
So the larka wala is frm nyc.. so ill be there too inshy by mid aug =) but my mom doesnt wanna go to ny too much cus its a lil far drive just for jewlarry, we have tons of fam in toronto.. so we can hit them up n stay there 2 days or so... so jewllary has to be in toronto...also i have a budget of max $5000 and im not moving lol.... i dont LOVE gold jewllary esp not bridal stuff, b/c i will most likly not wear it too much later... so i want sumthing hulka... and hot (haute too) at the same time!! my dress is bhari enough w/ the balls on the ends, once its here frm lahore ill post pics on here ...ill def hit up shaheeeen ( i LOVE their food).. i need cateres to come out to pittsburgh, so thats an issue too i dunno if theyr gunan do it :( any other (yummy) ppl?

theres a bridal show happening in toronto too... i cant remember now but its at maple banquet hall, i think... i'll try and find the details for you.

Parisienne n SGC i would love some contacts for catering frm nyc only ( i dunt want it frm toronto.. b/c of customs wagera).. and decoraters too... possibility some websites.... since the date hasnt been set yet (iA my MArch 10th)..we are aiming for mid august (i kno im late!) but i have a photograper in mind, and i need a makeup person too... so if u know any one good willing to travel for all the above stuff i will LOVE it!!! (makeup is not THAT serious.. i know exactly what i want and its not desi cake ! lol).. any good person can do that.. thank you so much ladies i really appreciate it!!!

catering is w/e i can call ppl in nyc.. not a big deal.. but those pix are BEAUTIFUL!!! the prob is theyr porlly EXPENSIVE.. my budget is not allowing more than 2500 fer pix thats MAX!!=( i just dont theyr worth more than that

you know what, email them... they're very, very nice and if you point out your budget, i have no doubt they'll negotiate with you to find a reasonable price point. i paid around that much for my pics too- they're just SO WORTH IT! :)

theyr good pix w/ good prices (packages).. i have a budget of 35,000 us dollars and im not moving lol.. the hotels 15,000 and jewl will be 5,000. (iA).. i wanted to know what were ur weddin favors (inside the box).. im thinkin mint boxes too .. just anything edible.. (and decently priced) im really tryin to stay in budget fer my parents.. the walimas in nyc so no control over that..

we had homemade, ginger spiced fortune cookies- they were about 4" across, so a good size and delish! those were inside the white take out boxes.

we also gave out chinese sandalwood fans at the ceremony cos it was at 5:30 and outdoors so in case it was hot, and then i bought gourmet cashews and packaged them in clear plastic cones i bought from www.weddingstar.com in lieu of hors d’ouerves- so these were placed in a basket next to the place cards so after people went into the tent after the ceremony, they picked one up also.
we also got our guestbook from wedding star- the prices are good and they ship quick.

re: cards… it all depends on the type of paper you use, how much ink, what quantity, etc… email me your details and i can give you a better idea on cost :slight_smile:

Give me a day or two and i'll send u the list of vendors. I'm getting married this year as well, so i'll let you know which vendors from nyc i'm using.

Hey Parisienne.... u might have to resend it? i dunno?? so im really lookin into kabab king.. now the main thing left is decorations.... i have a lady but i have a to place an order for 4500 in order for her to come... b/c its a hectic weekend n everyhting being last minute..... is that worth it? her stages are like 1200-2000 and i was gunna then maybe let her do all the centerpieces n chairs too (just the colored bows)..... i just wanted to compare wedding decoraters... price wise.. lemme kno if u get a chance my emails snm6549 @yahoo.com
