Re: sexuality....

Ok. First, I would like to make it clear that the like most of new innovative terms you see from myside, I have not seen this term Nitro-sexual anywhere before writing it here, so any resemblance/or lack of it would purely be a coincidental. The description given is purely ingenious. You all are hereby allowed to use the term in lieu of its description.

Maniac - till today i am not a girl/women/female or any other thing feminine of man.

PCG my child - It is time you start looking at people, beyond sexuality. Men and women are beautiful. Just that Men are more humble. Luckily, I can admire both genders 'asexually' too

As I said earlier, I admire some men and some women. and I am not ashamed of it any second. Go and shoot the rabbit, you insecure lot :p

Re: sexuality....

I am Trisexual, I'll try anything sexual with female, male or hermaphrodite.

Re: sexuality....

NN: Interesting article: Its possible, that this is some sort of genetic abnormality, like having 5 fingers, etc.

Note these exerpts:

*However, asexuality doesn’t necessarily mean having no sex drive. The Asexual Visibility and Education Network (Aven) defines asexuals as those who never feel the desire to commit to having sex with others. While some never experience sexual desire at all, others feel aroused from time to time — sometimes to their irritation — but simply don’t want to have sex with other people. *

Its seems the symptoms are various, so this could be a set of genetic disorders. Some feel aroused, and some never have.

The results suggest that a number of pathways, both biological and psychosocial, contribute to the development of asexuality.

If there is a biological component to it, which it seems so (article says most of the people are women, have started puberty late) and psychological (tend to be more religious), then its not entirely a lifestyle CHOICE. A choice implies there is no biological component involved.

Of course, some asexuals do have a physical or mental illness. There is evidence that schizophrenia and depression can wipe out desire, and sex phobias can also affect libido.

Again, biological abnormality. Has nothing to do with, in these cases, a choice.

Sexual-aversion disorder (an intense dislike of sex) is another problem, which can affect people who suffer from panic attacks.

Panic attacks have a biological side to them, I believe. Hence, again, not a lifestyle choice.

**In women, however, the picture is more complicated. Hooper says that, even among those with a normal hormone profile, between 8% and 12% find it very difficult, if not impossible, to feel aroused. “Even if they do feel slightly sexual,” she says, “they can’t reach orgasm, so they aren’t very motivated to seek out a sexual relationship. For some of these women, testosterone therapy seems to increase desire, arousal and orgasm, but in others, it has no effect.”

Hooper points to research by the Kinsey Institute in America, which suggests that there are specific brain centres that control sex drive: an exciter centre, which permits arousal, and an inhibitor, which keeps it under control. “It may be that for some women, there is more than one inhibitor, or that it may be overactive,” she says.**

Again, biological abnormality seems like the main thing at work.

Mind you, we don't know much about the brain yet and how it works entirely, so there is much yet to figure out on the topic. From the evidence you've given it looks to be heavily influenced (if not entirely), by biological factors. And given the low percentage reported (1% of the population sampled), it seems to be a biological abnormality - my hunch is that its genetic most likely.

Its definitely NOT a lifestyle that people wake up with and say, hey I'm going to not get aroused. These people are still actually sexual, because with some therapy, as stated, they can be reverted back to their normal sexual state. Asexuality would be an illness/abnormality/abnormal condition, so to speak. So you can't say that humans can have a sexual vs. asexual categorizations.
