The title says it all. In Pakistani society there all these barriers between males and females. I personally find nothing wrong in talking to females, going out with some of them in a group, or heck even one on one. But however that seems to be taboo in Pakistan.
There is a great deal of social repression within pakistani society which in many cases leads to even more flamboyant and extreme forms of breaking the rules. It is very similar to the case of alcohol in Saudi. If it is taboo people must do it. I find growing up without interaction with the sex to be extremely unhealthy.
One of the main reasons is how can you live a married life - a major aspect of our society - when you have been told to stay away from females either implicitly or explicitly?
Of course there is that whole issue of both males and females being damn frustrated when it comes to sex. They have this idea that if a boy starts talking to them it is because he is interested. I mean saying stuff like boys and girls only get along when they are interested etc. is just plain stupid to me. Aag aur pani ka sat hai etc, just reinforces the concept that man and women are seperate and should be kept apart.
