New York, NY, January 16, 2003 (featureXpress) – Universal Records will release the soundtrack for the film The GURU, the Bollywood meets Hollywood comedic film from Working Title Films, in alliance with Universal Pictures. THE GURU SOUNDTRACK will arrive at record stores nationwide on January 28th and the movie will hit the big screen on January 31st.

Modeling itself from such musically inspired films as GREASE and WESTSIDE STORY the movie’s multicultural and whimsical flavor, THE GURU SOUNDTRACK features songs from some of today’s hottest artists from the UK’s POP, Indian and Dance worlds. In capturing the film’s up-tempo and charismatic make up, Universal will release the sexy sounds and hypnotic tracks like, “One Way Or Another,” from pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bexter, the addictive party-routine cut, “Macarena” from LOS DEL RIO and the hypnotic Indian number, “Chori Chori Gori Se” performed by THE GURU’s co-star, Jimi Mistry. The soundtrack also features music from Diana Krall, Paulina Rubio, Samantha Mumba and Universal’s party-girl newcomer Becky Baeling.

The GURU stars sex vixen Heather Graham in the lead role as teacher by day and a porn-star by night searching for true love only to find that it is “g-spot” away. Joining Graham in the movie is Jimi Minstry who portrays a young Indian dance teacher searching for the American dream while all of America wants to search his underpants. Also starring Marisa Tomei who is on a spiritual quest for completion, Christine Baranski( Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas), Michael McKean (Best In Show), Dash Mihok( The Perfect Storm), and Malachy McCourt (Green Card).
