To understand this issue, you need to understand salvery first. You are the provider and caretaker for your slaves. It comes with a lot of responsibilities. Besides, it’s not as simple as that. For example, if your slave concieves a child from you, you have to marry her.
Basically, there’s provision for all parties.

It’s hard for me to believe that fulfilling the sexual desires of slave girls is another ‘responsibility’ of master. Nice try hunk but sorry I can’t buy that.
I know slavery doesn’t exist anymore and this topic doesn’t affect today’s Muslims but still above mentioned verse is very alarming and contradicting. Besides it gives another excuse to non-Muslims to ridicule Islam. So far I haven’t seen any satisfying replies on this topic.
