Sex education

wat does the quraan say about it.

Re: Sex education

Just have fun...(Keeping in mind proper ways...)

Re: Sex education

Quran and Hadith give muslims all the sex education we need....
i dont think they leave any questions unanswered....

Re: Sex education

In the times, lets say 20 yeras back, when there wasn't a mention of sex aducation, did we have sexual promiscuity and sexual crimes?

Re: Sex education

^
sex education and sex crimes have been around i guess since the very emergence of mankind....

Re: Sex education

The Quran also tells us to seek knowledge. The Quran is a guide, not all of Knowledge condensed into one book.

I read an article once, although I don’t know how true it was because it never gave citations, but according to hadith literature, the Prophet encouraged educating children/young adults on sex. (I dont know if this is before or after they hit puberty). Also education on the Islamic etiquette to be upheld in sexual interactions. Also withdrawal was often recommended, so on that basis, many scholars say that using protection like a condom is permissable. Obviously, we’re not born with this knowledge, so some education is necessary for a kid entering puberty.

Realistically speaking, if you don’t teach your kids this sort of stuff, they’re going to get it from their friends or the internet or magazines. If they’re smart, they’ll look it up in the library, but comon, how many kids do that?

BTW, I learned all about the menstrual cycle at the molecular level when I was in 4rth grade - I got a book from the library. Most of my friends listened to their friends. In middle school, everyone was getting their sex education from the internet.

This is a parental responsibility, IMHO.

Re: Sex education

from what i read, withdrawal was DIScouraged cuz it was deemed unhealthy…
until some companions mentioned to the Prophet (saw) that romans have a regular practice of withdrawal, after which he allowed withdrawal if one did not wish to impregnate his slave girl and then have no one to work at home…

Re: Sex education

now thats the kind of religious info we seek of ..

yes please everybody share ur experiences .. jazakAllah !

Re: Sex education

armughal can you post the sources?

Re: Sex education

That is not a reason to justify the presence of sex crimes oe education.
I am talking about the relative and comparative prevalence of these crimes now a days compared to older.

My second point is, when we talk about sex education, what do we mean by it?

Does it mean redirecting or orienting a person to right sexual attitude and behavior and preventing anxiety or negative impulses
OR
educating a sexually promiscuous society in methods of safe sex, how to do it, positions, how many partners, homo and hetrosexual propagation etc etc? This question is very critical and we all ignore or confuse it…

Re: Sex education

And you know what, that is why I am a little reluctant about hadiths. I cannot imagine our Prophet (PBUH) talking to people like this, I simple cannot… He (PBUH) can go as open and as explicite as Quran. This is too explicit an explaination for me to believe coming out of his mouth.

Re: Sex education

Every day I go thru some revelations. Can you quote the aboce hadith literature?

Re: Sex education

Did you read what I wrote, anjjan?

armughal, I do not recall that - I recall reading the hadith, which has been posted here, that withdrawal is permissable. Nothing about slave girls, and such.

Re: Sex education

armughal, I saw the hadith you're talking about regarding the slave girl. But withdrawal is not limited to slave girls:

Here are some hadith's.

**According to Jabir, "We used to practise 'azl in the Prophet's (pbuh) lifetime while the Qur'an was being revealed." There is another version of the same hadith, "We used to practise coitus interruptus during the Prophet's (pbuh) lifetime. News of this reached him and he did not forbid us."

According to Abu Sa'id, "The Jews say that coitus interruptus is minor infanticide, and the Prophet (pbuh) answered, 'The Jews lie, for if God wanted to create something, no one can avert it (or divert Him).'"

According to 'Umar Ibn Khattab, "The Prophet (pbuh) forbade the practice of 'azl with a free woman except with her permission."**
