Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
Yup. Stuff like this that IMO should be taught before college level at least, and not have those pages of the biology book ripped out.
They do that?
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
Any examples of 'things went wrong' due to lack of sex ed?? Juss curious you know..

The annoying gigglyness of girls sitting at a MacDonald’s table staring at the boys on the other side while trying to bite into their burgers with the onions falling from the side of their mouths. ![]()

When I was in school in Pakistan, they took our biology books, and completely ripped out those pages that had the remotest hint of menstrual cycle, reproduction, and stuff like that. This was a school that was O level, had all girls in it. I have heard similar stories from others that had primary education in Pakistan.

Let's see...girls think that just hugging will get them pregnant. Guys think that orgasm are required to get pregnant, or intercourse with their wives during the flow period of the menstrual cycle will get them pregnant. Many teenage boys think nocturnal emission, perfectly natural, is a cause for concern and they're dying. Now you're probably going to say, yeah well it does't happen. I am assuming you're upper middle class, if not upper class, and have had access to internet from the very beginning, and so know what is what. I am not talking about you specifically here however. I am talking about those that find it absolutely shameful to discuss even the basic bodily functions with their mothers, fathers, or siblings and in the end women are blamed if they can't conceive and other problems.
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
I wasn’t gonna say that! ![]()
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
I don't think there needs to be an entire syllabus dedicated to sex education. In my secondary school here in Ireland, we (girls only) just had ONE session on puberty related talk. It was given to us by a company that tours around Ireland presenting talks to students on these topics. What happens to you once a month and why, what are pads & tampons and how to use them (they even gave us samples and instructions booklet), what are the risks involved, how to be hygienic (again they gave out little booklets on all of this info), who to talk to, be confident blabla.... that one session was more than enough, the rest we learned in biology.
They should do the same in Pakistan. A group of specialists should visit schools and present talks to male and female students separately about puberty, pregnancy etc.

So how do pass O Level biology then? That is part of the syllabus.
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
In Pakistan, you pretty much get your 'official' sex-ed days before your wedding or worst, on your wedding day (or night rather).
Maybe things have changed now...
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
Now, lacking a proper word, should sex-ed exist in Pakistan?
we got our info from older boys who failed the grades several times and stayed back in our class, painted advertisements on walls and foot pathi novels.
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
I dunno. Everyone passes. I just moved away before I could write it.
I don’t mean sex education in the literal sense of the word…

Ahaha been there, our Bio books in eighth grade had all the reproduction pages cut out (this was in Saudi Arabia). And then there was always this one lucky kid whose book was missed and everyone would crowd around and go all giggity.
So how do pass O Level biology then? That is part of the syllabus.
I dropped it in 9th grade but I heard from the other guys they do skim over the reproduction stuff. The most I heard until 9th grade was one line from the Bio teacher "Andthepenisgoesintovaginareleasesspermandfertilisesegg".
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
Haha yeah I was one of those people. My copy miraculously still had the entire chapter, and somehow the girls in my class knew that I had them. So the ones that had never ever called up my house called me to ask me what’s in those chapters and I’m like wtf leave me alone. I read that chapter and I didn’t get anyyyyyy of it and I’m like…why are they just sooooo curious about it. Was sorta kinda glad they ripped out the paged and the girls would stop “borrowing” my book ![]()

It was natural to be curious, this was stuff no one had ever explained, we just had the weirdly fantasised version from older kids or that knowledgeable kid in class. Plus as guys most of us were interested in the breast feeding pictures :D.
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
^uhm gross.

I think generally all guys are =/ but as stoppit said, gross.
Re: Sex-ed in Pakistan
I didn’t take bio, but my class mates who did, knew a lot. The boys were all excited and some annoyingly pervy during those days. And some of the girls acted as if we (the non-bio group) were missing on something really good ![]()

Err yes, teenage boys usually are.
