I came across with a very weird (?) statement a couple of months ago,that’s during the final days of pregnancy,just before delivery,sex (careful one)can result in an easy delivery of the babe.Now I am not sure about the validity of this but one of my friends did the same (that too he was told by his mother in law !!! ),but my question is do partners really agree to having sex during pregnancy?Do they really enjoy it?Is it advised?

Sex during pregnancy is fine as long as it remains comfortable for the mom-to-be. The reason that it helps promote delivery is that when a pregnant woman reaches orgasm, there is a release of oxytocin which is what promotes good contractions. Nipple stimulation does the same thing tho in smaller amounts. Oxytocin is the body's natural hormone - and when a woman doesnt contract well enough, she is given the man-made form of this hormone called Pitocin.

I heard, and I forgot from whom but I think from my gynecologist friend, but the male sperm has prostaglandins (or something) in it that helps soften the cervix, which helps with the delivery. I believe that’s what the doctors suggest the couple to have sexual intercourse when the girl has been in labor in a long time and sex at that time can help a bit more.
