A prof once said that your manner of speech gets set around the age of nine. Not too sure about that. I knew someone grew up in the US and got married to a British guy, moved to the UK and came back after a couple months with a brand new accent. So maybe formative years don’t lock your accent in place and even a short duration can have a strong impact.
