Seventh Day Adventist pastor who led Tutsis in Rwanda to slaughter is jailed

hehehe Anglican’s don’t belong to main stream christianitiy either they must be another splinter group.

Dude,

Anybody guilty should be tried, fried and rot in hell. Christian, Hindu, Martian, whatever, if you are guilty of a crime of this proportion you should be brought to justice.

But you are a long way from proving that this is the moral equavalent of Al-Qaeda, which is the whole undertone here.

You may try to fashion an arguement that the Christians are terrorists, to provide you a little comfort, but you are diggin’ a big hole here. Because there is NO ONE who buying this line of logic. Rwanda was an ethnic clash, and it is not the first in Africa, nor will it be the last. to attempt to frame this as some kind of short coming of the Christian religions grossly overstates the involvement of organized religion. Rwanda was mass insanity, and a crime of huge magnitude.

And, although I am not Catholic, the Catholic church did issue the following statements:

"Vatican spokesman Joaquín Navarro Valls yesterday said, “The Holy See cannot but express a certain surprise at seeing the grave responsibility of so many people and groups involved in this tremendous genocide in the heart of Africa heaped on so few people.” Navarro Valls thus indicates the Catholic Church’s scepticism about a Belgian court ‘picking on’ two relative small perpetrators in the 1994 genocide, while key organisers still are not facing charges.

Spokesman Navarro Valls however refers to the more reconciling message by Pope John Paul to Rwandans in May 1996. The Pope thus said: “The Church … cannot be held responsible for the guilt of its members that have acted against the evangelic law; they will be called to render account of their own actions. All Church members that have sinned during the genocide must have the courage to assume the consequences of their deeds they have done against God and fellow men.”

In other words, the Pope says that God will hold them to account, and that they must be responsible for their own actions, and that they have acted against evangelic law. Certainly not support for a terrorist network.

I agree with the Pope, God will punish them, as well as man, and there is nothing in the teachings of the Bible that would ever justify their criminal actions.

Nobody is trying to compare the two, or even excuse any of the terrorist acts, but to point out the massive hypocrisy evident in your whole argument which has come crashing down in this and other related threads. If you choose to lecture Muslims on fanatics within their ranks and their terrorist acts that is perfectly ok, but in failing to address and then make up excuses for the genocidal acts of the Christian clergy you have truly shown to all the double standards in your whole line of argument.

I am glad that you have finally conceded that the Pope and like must condemn the acts of Christian clergy (or those who claim to be Christian clergy), where previously said he did not have to. But what you failed to mention is that apart from a statement or so from the Vatican about the crimes of it’s people in Rwanda, it has failed to take action against it’s priests who are alleged to have played roles in the Rwanda genocide.

In fact it has protested or try to impede the trial of their Churchmen involved in the genocide.

Here are some more examples that demonstrate the high level of involvement of the Christian Churches in the Rwandan Genocide:-

I could post more links, as there is an endless list of stories on the crimes perpetrated by the many, many clergy of all the major Christian sects in Rwanda. Do you know that the Rwandan government has asked the Vatican for a formal apology for the role of the Vatican priests in the Rwandan genocide and that has not been forthcoming yet? It reminds one of the role of the Vatican before and during WW2 in respect to the genocide of the Jews.
