Seven missiles strike in Pakistan, kill 20

This has become a daily occurance much like Iraq.

At least 20 people were killed in a missile strike near the Afghan border on Sunday, state-run Pakistan Television said.

The strike destroyed the house of a suspected militant leader, according to a local tribesman.

Seven missiles were fired in the strike in the tribal area of South Waziristan, the television report said.

The report did not indicate where the missiles came from, but U.S.-led coalition forces based in neighboring Afghanistan have launched attacks inside the Pakistani border in the past.

Pakistan has been battling Islamic militants linked to al-Qaida and the Taliban in its regions bordering Afghanistan. The U.S. considers the country’s effort vital to the war on terrorism.

The missiles were fired by an unmanned drone, local tribesman, Rahim Khan, told The Associated Press.

At least two hit and destroyed the home of a local militant leader and Taliban sympathizer who goes by the single name Noorullah, Khan said.

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

Well! if we the Pakistanis behave like Iraqis, we'll get treated like Iraqis. Islamists in Pakistan are bringing home the Iraqi style "gifts" of car bombing, suicide attacks, killing fellow countrymen just because of their political or religious beliefs, etc. etc.,

Off course then they will be killed like Jihadis of Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the list goes on.

This is high time that Pakistanis and especially the residents of NWFP realize the importance of an internationally recognized border. These borders or lines on the map are drawn for a purpose! To protect you. As long Pakistanis continue violating the sanctity of their own borders, others will follow suite.

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

and people believe Obama is bad for Pakistan! ha, what he said is already happening, he just said out in the open.

Increase in attacks by 'coalition' forces is increasing and so is militants attack in Pakistan, people of Pakistan are caught in middle of fight of two elephant clans.

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

Unfortunately, its not the terrorists that get killed, its women and children that get killed, leaving behind more crazy men that are vulnerable to extremist propaganda.

And why the hell Americans fire a couple of missiles everynow and then. What they achieve from it? Or is it that they want to keep both sides motivated and want the war going on.

I have advocated several times that border with Afghanistan shud be totally sealed, but it seems Paki governments hand are tied. Whenever they seal the border Afghans protest and border is opened under US pressure. Moreover, all the US & Nato forces use this border for getting supplies and they don't want it to be closed.

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

I believe you were born after 2nd iraq war, about 4 years ago,
little history lesson, untill 5years and 10 days ago iraq was a sovereign country.
Then a big bully attacked, Iraq got rabies.
Yeah its all iraq fault , cuz iraq was wearing very tempting cloths asking for a rape.

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

  1. Icon bro! Be respectful to Pakistanis at least. Paki is a derogatory term used for Shudras (untouchables) in the Indian South. There is no need to copycat the worst aspects of Indian society. Thank you.

  2. Americans and Pakistani army are using missiles as precision attacks. Al-Libbi the terrorist was recently killed in a similar attack recently.

Why to use precision guided munition? Simple. Pakistani army has lost 100s of its soldiers to the tribal nutcases.

  1. Your suggestion for locking down the border with Afghanistan is a good one. It should be done if possible.

But if the Afghanis are against closing down the border, then we should take our military on the Afghan side, especially from the southern Afghanistan. There is no use in wasting our troops by using them Wazirastan.

Ultimately we may have to use examples from the American civil war in Shenadoah valley.

The example is based on the orders General Grant gave to General Sheridan for the 1864 Shenandoah Valley campaign.

Angry that a confederate army led by Jubal Early had been able to use the Valley both as a granary for the southern armies and a sheltered invasion route of the north, Grant created the 40,000 man Army of the Shenandoah and put the bulldog Sheridan in command with two specific orders; kill Early’s army and

***consume and destroy all forage and subsistence, burn all barns and mills and drive off all stock in the region.

Valley residents who complained about the wholesale destruction were told, per Sheridan’s instructions,

*** that they have furnished too many meals to guerrillas to expect much sympathy.***

Grant explained in a letter to Army Commander in Chief Henry Halleck that he wanted Sheridan to

***eat out Virginia clear and clean as far as they go, so that crows flying over it for the balance of the season will have to carry their provender with them.

Grant got down to more specific details in his further instructions to Sheridan, saying that he

should make all the Valley south of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad a desert as high up as possible. I do not mean that houses should be burned, but all provisions and stock should be removed, and the people notified to get out.

Don't get decieved by nicey nicy dem-vs.-repub potshots. The things that make America as a strong country is precisely what Gen. Grant did during the civil war.

We now have a Islamist-driven civil war going in Pakistan. And the only way to deal with this is what Americans used in their civil war.

*Question is? As Pakistanis, would we allow our General Grants to take decisive actions?

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

Exactly...that's what I have been saying all along. Not a justification but that is what really lies at the heart of all the grievances of these qabailies and they then take badla by killing innocent civilians and soldiers in retaliation.

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

I don't know how much "precision" these missiles have when the second last had killed 4 people 2 women and 2 children.

I seriously doubt the sincerety of uncla Sam in fight against Pakistani Taleban, i beleive that it wants Taleban to fight with Pakistan and not with Nato troops. Lately there has been lull in Taleban activities in Afghanistan.

Without sealing the border operations in FATA will never be successful, as Taleban will move out temporarily to Afghanistan and then back.

Then on todays news i have heard things that really disturbed me. The Taleban spokesman speaking to BBC, "almost" cliamed the responsibility of Islamabad attack, yet at the same time welcomed offer of talks by ANP and said that this will help reach peace!
Taleban unlike HikmatYaar had an ethnic colour from the beginning. I suspect that they want to shift their targets from NWFP to Punjab and rest of Pakistan.

Re: Seven missiles strike in Pakistan, kill 20

good

America should be given a full reign to take out terrorists in our border areas

if these tribal gives Arabs and Central Asians a run of the place then Pakistani Government can do the same

Pakistan should give up all soverignity over these tribal areas and let USA send its B-52 bombers carpet bomb this place

these these tribal traitors will realize the price of killing fellow Pakistanis on the behest of their Arab Masters

Re: Seven missile strikes in Pakistan kill 20

burqaposhx behan I have no time for terrorists or religious extremists myself but don't you think we should be looking beyond just force to deal with this menace. Because all we are doing at the moment is aggravating a growing cancer. The more we bomb them and kill innocent women and children (conveniently termed collateral damage), the more nutcases we produce who kill our innocent soldiers and civilians in revenge > the more we go after them and kill more women and children > the more they come back hard at us and kill yet more civilians, so where are we heading with all this? It's just like a vicious loop with no end in sight. Don't you think we also need to involve some sort of political diplomacy or mufahimat here. Don't tell me that each and everyone of these qabailies is brain-washed and vulnerable to extremist propaganda

Re: Seven missiles strike in Pakistan, kill 20

Terrorists were killed, why is this such a bad thing. Any loss of innocent life is regrettable, but it always happens in every single war. But there is difference in deliberately targeting innocents vs. so-called collateral damage. Niyat also means something in Islam.

WANA, March 17: A pro-government militant commander accused the Pakistani and US forces on Monday of carrying out Sunday’s missile attack on a compound of a house in the Shah Nawazkot area of South Waziristan. The attack left nine people, including some foreigners, dead.

Maulvi Nazir’s spokesman Mita Khan, who won the support of the government after launching an armed campaign against Uzbek militants, termed the attack a joint operation of Pakistani and US forces.

“We believe that Pakistani security forces and Americans had carried out the attack,” Mr Khan said, adding that the ‘Mujahideen’ would soon avenge the death of their comrades.

Officials said that nine militants had been killed in the attack, while local people put the death toll at 18.

Some unconfirmed reports say** that a doctor of Arab origin** who frequented the compound was among the dead.

So there was some success too.
