Setting Passwords

Is there anyway to set passwords on adult content so that no one can access it without a password?

Re: Setting Passwords

In MS Office environement, you can.. In windows envirornment, generally you can not unless it is a shared resource. You can, however, buy any third party software to make the file password protected..

What is it that you are trying to hide?

Re: Setting Passwords

Well I am not hiding anything, I just don;t want anyone using my computer for anythign while I am gone, especially not adult content. I saw a couple of links on another computer which is sort of for common use and that grossed me out.

Re: Setting Passwords

oh oh… er.. you mean you want people not to go to adult sites on your kampootar?

i thought u wanted to put a password on already existing computer file :smack: your wording gave that impression..

in that case, as far as Internet Explorer goes, u can use content advisor feature…

Tool > Internet Options > Content

but it will ask you for the password for every site in the beginning.. u can select all the permissible sites on the fly for not asking you the password.. it is an annoying utility but effective one… just dun lose your password :smilestar:

Re: Setting Passwords

Do you use Internet Explorer?

Go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Content Tab --> Click "Enable" under "Content Advisor"

Re: Setting Passwords

Realistically speaking, you cannot put limits on web surfing. Primary reason is that there is no web standard to rank contents of a page, even if there is one, no body seems to be applying them.
There are few organizations trying to set such standards but mostly no web developer comply with those terms.

Secondary reason is that we dont have a software intelligent enough to guarantee the desired results. You obviously cannot filter each website manually.

Regarding the solution:
You can create a Guest/Crap account for people who dont find anything better to kill their time than using your computer :)

Always Log Off your identity before leaving the desk.

Good luck!

Re: Setting Passwords

Use PC security version (6) thats very useful software for all these things... you can protect your folder or any single file or your any drive and can set password too just in a single click on your important data, very fast and effective...
