Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

:salam2:

Pakistan Cricket Board’s acting chairman Najam Sethi has conceded that the national team may have to pull out of the forthcoming Asia Cup and World Twenty20 in Bangladesh owing to security concerns.

Protests have been continuing in Bangladesh against a resolution passed in the Pakistan national assembly over the execution of a Jamaat-e-Islami leader, who opposed the creation of Bangladesh. The protesters have been calling on the government to end diplomatic ties with Pakistan.

Sethi said the PCB had also been in touch with the ICC over the security situation in Bangladesh. Reports say that Sri Lanka, South Africa and India are being considered as alternate venues in case the ICC is forced to move the World T20 from Bangladesh next month while a PCB official has said that if the Asia Cup is not held from late February it could be postponed for an indefinite period as there is no alternate venue in place now for the event.

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

Wo kaisee

if rest of the world has problem touring us amid security concerns why can't we use the same thesis ...few days ago bangalis burnt Pakistani cricket kit .... There are so many protests against us... it is absolutely unsafe for us to go there

you are of-course entitled to your opinion but I felt such a harsh reaction from you was based on sethi's current political affiliation with PMLN ...otherwise what sethi is saying does make sense

none of my business waleed but I am elder than you and my advice is that you shd analyze things on merit ... Not based on political or any other association ... trust me it will help you immensely in your life thx

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

Pakistan should pull out citing security reasons.

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

Should pull out due to security and due to the way Bangla treated us by backtracking twice. Till our board shows spine we will keep getting dissrespected.

Though I head Kolkatta is a replacement, if it happens in India unless we win it we will start hearing match fixing again :hehe:

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

In May 2002, New Zealand team were attacked. In March 2009, Sri Lankan cricketers were attached in Lahore, Pakistan. Australia had refused to tour on safety grounds. Lets not forget that the Bangladesh also put off a scheduled tour by Pakistan due to security concerns after the attack ( BBC SPORT | Cricket | Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh off ). If the Chairman of Pakistan refused then this is because of the safety of Pakistani cricketers and it shows his concerns.

I think he made a good decision according to current situation.

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

If there are security concerns than we should not tour.

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

If BD guarantee safety then Pakistan should tour

Ashraf-ul-Haq (ex-BD cricketer and Asian Cricket Council Executive Officer): “Asia Cup to go ahead in Dhaka even if Pakistan do not participate in it”

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh

Re: Sethi concedes Pakistan may pull out from Asia Cup, WT20 in B’desh
