Set your own custom title...

I am a member of this other forum .
Members can choose and set their own custom titles at that Forum. That can be anything they choose (see the pic below)

Now, my question is. Why don’t you allow guppies to do the same at Gupshup. I mean that will save a lot time which you can spend on other uesful stuff improving the Gupshup Forum.

Think about Nescio.. Such incidents will be a thing of the past.

I know, there could be an immature member at Gupshup, and might choose a nast title, but in that case Admins can always use their powers.

Gizzy,

your screenshot was removed because advertising other sites isn't allowed here, and in any case your point has been made without needing the reference :)

Basically, you want Guppies to be able to choose and set their own Custom Titles. I think this is already under consideration, but no definite decision has been made on that yet.

Thanks, Mr Xtream for the reply.

And sorry, that was not my intention.. and the reason I didnt post any url to the forum.

I just forgot to remove the url from the screen shot.

No problem.

although maybe strange to hear such comment coming from me, but I don't think letting guppies set their own title will be a good thing. I think the signature function provides enough freedom for that. The custom title procedure is good as it is now, only needs to speed up a bit.

Allowing members to set their own custom title is perhaps not advisable because of such a huge membership base we have, masha allah, on Gupshup, especially because we had several instances of members going overboard (even with their signatures), and also because the discussion board should look more like a .... well.... discussion board. Custom titles and animated avatars, it seems, are privileges for loyal and dedicated members, and should not be allowed to be a distraction from the discussion. I have seen BB where animated avatars are so eye-catching, that the discussion is lost in their glitter.

Taking remedial action after the fact only works to an extent, and then it is even more work, compared to putting a check at the start.

What happened in NeScio's case was an aberration, because the technical team were still dealing with transition issues and all the custom titles were being put back, anyway. The backlog was huge and the techies did a good job of completing it in this time.

From now onwards, the process of custom titles will be a lot smoother, if members just forward their requests to Admin via PM, instead of messaging various mods or other senior members, or using the forum to post 100 similar complaints to get their point across.
