Whatever you guys are using to save the jpgs on the server, is really increasing ur bandwidth usage AND probably ur costs. I have repeatedly noticed that upload pics are resaved using some other JPG conpression values which actually decrease the image quality and increase image size. I’m really too tired to give examples, but here’s one… the file below was uploaded from an actual size of 74.1 KB… but the uploaded version has been balooned to 278 KB…!!!

Well, if that is 100% quality... than u guys have a crappy compression method installed...
I mean I can show u exampleS when images on my own servers have lower file sizes but clearly visible better image quality than stuff uploaded to GS servers...
Why don't u just create the thumbs, leave the originals as they are... I mean they're already what u want, less than 75KB.
