Atleast 20 killed in Hyderabad serial blasts

Hyderabad, Aug 25: In a serial blast, atleast 20 persons were killed and several injured at Lumbini Park, and Gokul Chat Bhandar here on Saturday evening at around 2000 hrs.

According to reports, the first blast took place at Lumbini Park open-air auditorium, opposite State Secretariat when a laser show was going on. The second blast took place at around 2015 hrs at Gokul Chat shop in Koti area, 5 Km from here.

Following the blasts, people were seen running helter-skelter as a number of them were congregated for the event. The cause of the blast is yet to be known.

The police officials reached on the spot and confirmed several deaths and injuries. Meanwhile, the injured persons have been admitted to nearby Medi City, Osmania and Yashoda hospitals.

High alert has been sounded in the city and security has been tightened throughout.

The Chief Minister YSR Reddy has convened an emergency meeting of top officials to review the situation. The Centre has also spoken to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condemned the blasts and expressed deep concern.

Bloody religious terrorsits…Hyderabad has been the target for several years…the killed are innocent women and children…the responsible animals should be publicly hanged…

Central security agencies on Saturday said that banned Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (Huji) militant outfit of Bangladesh was possibly behind the twin blast in Hyderabad in which 30 people were killed.

Sources said that there could be similarities between the explosives used in Mecca masjid blast in Hyderabad in May this year and Saturday night's explosion.

It was suspected that Shahid and Bilal, who were the masterminds of the the Mecca masjid blast were also behind Saturday's explosion.

Shahid is reported to be Karachi and is instrumental in bringing people for arms training from Hyderabad.

CBI has already procured a red-corner notice from interpol against Shahid.

kaka sahab, all posts that were moved were either themselves bickering/personal attacks or were in response to such posts. since you feel the smiley is not appropriate i will edit that.

also "addressing" terrorists on this forum is not appropriate IMO since that implies there ARE terrorists on the forum. I dont believe that is the case. If you know of someone specific then perhaps its a different matter.

^ fair enough.

no sympathy for terrorists, however your post was in response to and quoted a post "addressing" terrorists. while I dont mind the language one uses against terrorists in person, I dont really find galiyan addressed to terrorists in absentia useful. nor thinly veiled attacks on Muslim (not just terrorist) beliefs in general for that matter.

Well, lets own up to the fact that most Indians are pointing their fingers at Pakistan for this…
So you would want us to sympathize and accept all blame?

I hatre seeing such things happen, but lets face it, it happens everyday… And frankly, im sick of Indians trying to pin the Blame on Pakistan.

The July 2006 bombings in Bombay, your media said it was ISI and Pakistan and Kashmiris and it wasnt the case....

India has a habitual habit of blaming Pakistan for everything

Maybe you blame Pakistan for India's traffic problems as well

Meanwhile, perhaps this is a chance for some introspection, no? Instead of pointing at Pakistan, perhaps you should consider whats wrong with your society that such things keep happening?!?

The tragic consequences of Hyderabad blasts continued to reverberate.

NDTV met Ayesha, who was desperately searching for her brother and his family after the twin blasts.

‘‘I am Ayesha Sultana, I am looking for my brother and his family. They live with me,’’ she said.

NDTV met Ayesha outside a private hospital in Hyderabad late on Saturday night. She was searching all hospitals for her brother, his wife and two small children.

She said her brother had called her minutes before the Laser show and had not returned home.

''The children are small and may not be able to return home if they are lost in the crowds. But they can tell the cell phone number.

‘‘Please help me and let me know if you come to know about them. It is long past 11 and he spoke to me at 7:30. It is so late,’’ said Ayesha Sultana, Victim’s sister.

Ayesha’s search ended, but tragically.

Her brother, his wife and two children came home but for the last time. They had all died in the blast.

‘‘The family is no more, all four members have died,’’ said Maqsood, victim’s relative.

‘‘There is no Hindu, no Muslim.Terrorists have no religion, I wish such terrorists are hanged in public,’’ he said.

This is a touching reflection of public sentiment and anger.
