This is my first time here and I am not familiar with the workings of this site yet, so please excuse the links. Am still trying to figure out how to upload the pictures, not so easy for me! Thank you for your patience and understanding. Unlike younger people who are growing up with the computer, for us older people we struggle to better understand it as we grew up with the radio before there was television. We still had horses pulling the milk wagon as a child during the World War Two. PEACE! Sarge :bism:
No, this is the very first time I have come here; actually I use my real name (hhbooker2 is Herbert Hillary Booker 2nd). I normally do not attach my university and college degrees after my name nor use my former military title in from of my name, but I do use the nickname “SARGE” instead of my first name. Sarge is the nickname of Sergeant. Sometimes I use the name “RAQIB” which as you know is Arabic for Sergeant. I do not support oppressive military regimes, but I do like military insignia as art. I believe certain of God’s (Allah’s) creatures are very beautiful, but I would never touch a snake, spider, or lizard, nor would I harm them as they have a purpose in life.
I thank the gracious moderator for posting the photographs! Thank you for your replies, I hope to be able to contribute constructive messages. I have been a Muslim since 1965 when I converted to Islam and it has been very difficult to remain one with pressure from family and even with strangers. I enlisted underage and was a boy-soldier at a time when I was naive, but now I know more about life and people in it, of course I am now an old man by some societal standards, though I do not feel old mentally. I am an unemployed school teacher and remain a student and take ethnic studies and history of other nations. I try to not judge and avoid forming opinions (unfounded facts), but I am human and make errors. I like this website best of all I’ve been to and I was so surprised to learn that others there in Pakistan have a sense of humour, so for my lack of knowing this, mostly what I see in the media here is very negative. I now see us not as nations, but as part of one very large community in which we are all brothers and sisters. Thank you all!
