India got muslim majority areas like amritsar, ferozepur, without which India would have lost connection to Jammu, similarily muslim majority eastern assam was gateway to north east, also India managed to get muslim majority Lakshdweep, it looks like British favoured India during partition settlement:)
Indian history books closes as soon as goa is liberated, we aren't taught about Redcliff line and don't know if there was any dispute at all. neither are we taught about 65,71 wars, that we get to know from our elders:)
Means as Ghalib said: Kuch to hai jiski parda dari hai.. Both nations try to hide truth from the public. We also get twisted information for 1965, 1971 wars thanks to the factors of society, who believe that their survival is in fighting with others. In Iqbal's words:
Jhapatna Palatna Palat kar Jhapatna
Lahoo Garm rakhnay ka hai ik Bahana
There is already too much to remember in history, they can tell about 71, it was proud moment for India:), CBSE wishes to maintain syllabus such that any one particular subject becomes burden on other, they can teach about anything in history in twisted way but they chose not to do so:)
i did the cbse system too, and everything from post-inpendence is a quick blur. course, it could be that i dont remember much, but it was like a month or so in std X from what i remember.
yes.. thats what is the case here in Pakistan.. There used to be a public holiday on 6th September for Defense Day of Pakistan.. But they always avoided teaching about 16th December. All we know about fall of Dhaka, Mukti Bahini is through books outside syllabus.
The first lesson of History, I remember to learn, was about Two nations theory.. I can still remember the wordings used in the lesson. :D

Quick blur because they can teach about 65, 71 but how to justify Emergency:D
