Just heard on PTV news that Akram Lahori and some other activists of the new-banned Lashkar-e-Jhangavi have been sentenced to death. If this thing survives all the appellate process, its a beginning of cleaning Pakistan of the enormous mess of sectarian violence and mindless killings.
We still have a long way to go, but this is certainly the way to move forward. Catch them all, and eliminate them one by one. Regardless of how they portray their deeds as protecting (their version of) Islam, they are nothing but criminals and killers and should not be allowed to hide behind our peaceful deen. I am sure the judge in the case, must have received more than a few death threats against him and his family. He must be a brave guy to still pronounce the death penalty.
Lashkar-e-Jhangavi is not newly banned. It was banned on 08-14-01, during the speech by Musharraf on Independence Day, almost month before 9-11 along with Sipah-e-Mohammad. View Old Thread
Akram Lahori, that ba$tard, has been involved numerous terrorist attacks against Shias since early 90s. He was captured by the Police but somehow got way, I think. Also, he gunned down former Interior Minister, Moin-ud-din Haider’s brother in Karachi in 2000. Another member of Lashkar-e-Jhangavi, Riaz Bashra was killed in encounter while running away last year. Both Bashra and Lahori were involved in over 100 cases against killings in Karachi, particularly targetting Shias.
Glad, these two morons finally brought to Justice. Eliminate these morons one by one.
Bravo Judge. :k: (and I don’t personally think there’s a threat to his life).
Those who perpetrate violence and killing in the Mosque (the house of Allah) and proclaim themselves to be champions of Islam. Shoot them..Shoot them all
I know many sunni islamic "fundamentalists" personally
But not one of these people that I have ever spoken to in my entire life have condoned violence against other muslims, like shias.
I honestly don't know who these damn fools are who believe in this kind of stuff. I really dont understand there ideology at all
Three men (Asif Zaheer, Rizwan Bashir and Mohammad Sohail) have been sentenced to death for their part in a suicide car bomb attack which killed 11 French naval engineers and 2 Pakistanis in Karachi, May of 2002.

Good news. Now where is that Azam Tariq guy hiding.

He is dutifully supporting the government, his most recent effort was too introduce the Shariah Bill in Parliament in the hope that he could force a split in the MMA. As I keep syaing about Musharraf, with allies like that, you don't need enemies.
Faisal, I read the news in today's papers. The problem is that if you eliminate one, you create a 2 dozen more. Ideally the root cause of fanaticism is where the energy and the effort should be concentrated. Causes such as illiteracy, poverty, unemployment and that combined with false hopes of a better future by the governments are where the problems lie. Governments should completely disassociate itself from the promotion/protection/practice of religion, and make religiously motivated killings a heinous crime. State should setup centers of tolerance next to each mosque. Mosques have become the breeding grounds for terrorists. It is time that they are regulated. Nothing other than the world of God be allowed to be said inside a mosque. While the world is passing us by, we are deliberately and willfully sliding backwards.
Just as you are showing disgust about the fanatical hate mongers who abuse our religion, I wish more would not just say it here on the internet and inside our living rooms, but we hold our Molvis to a lot higher standards, and shut them up in the mosques should they utter nonsense.

NY, great words. only if political bigwigs in mean big beards like MMA folks follow teh same logic. I mean they want to look to islamic system for solution, but they dont look at islamic system for providing ppl a better future, justice, rights, opportunities, education. Their laathi stops at banning music and jeans etc.
Its sad when some mullah who does not have a real education mix his personal political views with religion and incite his equally simpleton followers.
Only mullah's educated at institutions such as Islamic University at Islamabad or similar and have no political associations be allowed to preach in the mosques. Only when politics is out of the mosque will sectarian violence end. A Muslim should be able to go to any mosque no matter what the banner says on the outside and pray to God only without receiving political propaganda.
All involved in perpetrating acts of terrorism should be executed without hesitation. And further, any supporters who take to the streets with their ugly protests should be arrested and charged with incitement. Personally I would also recommend they be beaten savagely as well but that probably wouldn't survive the courts.
